  • Pours a deep amber brown color with a thin off white head. The head settles out quickly, leaving a thin swirl of foam resting on top. Some spotty watery lacing.

The aroma has a grainy toasted type malt present with a caramel sweetness. A light citrus is noticeable with a hint of pine.

The taste is similar to the aroma with a sweet camel grain type malt up front and works into a nice bold citrus hop. The finish has a nice citrus bite with a hint of lemon or grapefruit bitterness.

Light to medium body with a light to medium carbonation. Watery mouth feel with a touch of dryness on the palate.

Overall, a very drinkable enjoyable IPA. Well balanced flavors that keep you coming back for another sip. The malts and the citrus hops seem to work together really nicely. A very easy drinking beer that I would have again.

  • Pours clear with a half inch of off-white to tan foam. Retention is average with some lacing here and there.

Aroma is malt forward with side notes of citrus hops; very subdued there. Light caramel, toast, but mainly straight forward malt sweetness.

Taste is a bit more complex and robust than the aroma. Caramel and toasted malt flavors, without being sweet, form the back bone. Pine, citrus, and even spice build the hop profile on top. Pine and grapefruit aid a smooth finishing bitterness.

Medium to light-medium body with light carbonation that comes in late. Dries the palate.

The flavor really picks this beer up. The aroma isn't bad it just doesn't trigger the sense enough. Nice drinking with enough hop profile to hold up the malt. Good balance. Enjoy!

  • sDev: 1.99% Color: Medium Amber
  • A) Medium amber with a slight reddish tint. It's clear and bright. The foam is off-white, medium size bubbles, and dissipates quickly.

    S) Sweet, bready malts. What little citrus and pine there is, seems far in the background. After repeated attempts to pull more in the way of flavors, I get some brown sugar.

    T) Taste is more interesting and appealing than the aroma. Nice toasted malt up front, then I think I get some spice, and some pit fruits mix with low grapefruit notes. Nice balance between sweet and dry. Average mouth-feel and carbonation.

    O) Don't get many chances at the products from this smaller Ohio brewer. That's too bad for me, since whatever I've tried form these guys is really solid.

Beer Notes
  • Red Eye PA Combining the resiny, citrus hop character of Simcoe, Summit and Amarillo hops with the caramel/munich malt flavors typical of a red ale gives this IPA a different "look" compared to most.
