  • An inch of creamy mocha foam coats. Great retention. Lacing is thick and sheeting.

Bourbon, vanilla and chocolate are prominent. Coffee with sweetness: molasses and brown sugar.

Tastes follows the nose. Bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Coffee is a bit bigger here but still subdued. Sugars are in the middle to finish, being fought off by the dark malt, alcohol and rye.

Mouth feel is light end of big. Carbonation is light to medium. Creamy, silky but no syrup or sticky. Dry while leave some sugars on the lips. Bitterness, more from malts, lingers with a touch of alcohol heat and rye.

Aroma is better than I expected. Taste is solid. Not enough coffee to hold up the naming of the beer. A real solid offering. Enjoy!

Beer Notes
  • This beer couldn't have been done without the help from our friends at High West Distillery in Park City, UT and Chicago's-own Metropolis Coffee. We brewed a rich, malty Imperial Stout with some of Metropolis' Spice Island blend, then let it vintag-ize in High West Rye and Bourbon Barrels for up to 17 FREAKING MONTHS. It's good to have friends!
