  • A: Clear gold, with soft off-white foam of normal retention.

S: Average levels of orange, pine, and malt. Inviting but in an unassuming way.

T: Super well balanced is my first thought. Starts orangey-grapefruit, switches to malt, then quickly dry's out, and carbonation follows, all in a seamless melt that totally works together. The 7.5% abv is well hidden. Any after-taste is more citrusy than anything else.

O: If this is the basis for Double Jack, now I know why that's so good. This brew was a total surprise, I thought it was going to be OK but kind of boring. And even though it's a strong personality IPA, it's very drinkable. I'd rank this with the very best of American IPAs.

  • Pours a clear golden color with a thin one finger head light fluffy head. The head settles out leaving a thin swirl of foam resting on top. Nice lacing.

The aroma is rich in pine and orange citrus. A sweetness with a caramel malt back end.

The taste starts sweet with nice caramel malt flavor that works into a nice blend of hops. Pine, orange citrus, and grapefruit are all present and balance out the sweetness in the hops perfectly. Finishes with a nice blend of pine and citrus hops with a slightly bitter, dryness.

Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy and slightly oily mouth feel. A slight dryness in the finish.

Overall, this is an impressive beer! Firestone Walker shows some serious talent with this one. Very drinkable and refreshing with an amazing balance! Put this one on your must try list!

  • Poured clear with three fingers of fluffy, off-white foam. Okay retention with a little bit of retention.

Not a big sniffer but full of piney hops. There is some sweet malt in there but not too much. Really great aroma.

Taste of sweet malt up front with pine hops in the finish. Smooth finish without any hop aftertaste. Very good.

Medium body and carbonation. Really well balanced front to back.

One of the better IPAs I have had. I really found this one to be an easy drinker. If it wasn't for the ABV you could session the beer forever. Good stuff. Enjoy!
