  • To begin the picture on the bottle is evil looking; perfect for the day before Halloween. Poured clear with a slightly off-white, one finger foam. Good staying power with blotchy lacing.

Aroma has a sweet and bread malt backbone that is complicated by the orange blossom and hibiscus flower (the only reason I recognize these is because Bryan, the brew master, let me scent these things raw). Spice: clove. Slight alcohol.

Taste is sweet up front with a note of honey. I got a lot of clove in the end and another hit of sweet to balance with a clove after taste. Floral and citrus were evident but were subtle. Slight tartness somwhere.(?)

Carbonation is on the low side. Medium body. Inkling of alcohol as it goes down.

This is my second go around with C.E. and I have to say I am glad I gave it a second chance. As with Belgians, a little different, but a good job blending for both the taste and aroma. Drinkable to the nth degree. I am going to get another one to cellar for a year or two. Enjoy!
