Poured a full finger of brown, thick foam. Lacing was minimal as the foam quickly disappeared from the top of my beer.
Aroma is huge on bourbon and alcohol from that bourbon. Other scents after searching: dried fruits, vanilla, molasses, and cocoa. Wonderful blend for the sniffer.
Taste is sweet, molasses, and some type of nut up front. The middle takes a little bit of hops and vanilla while transition starts to bring in cocoa and coffee. The beer finishes with a heightened cocoa flavor while bourbon and dried fruit introduce a bit of tartness. A slight bourbon alcohol burn on the way down but not as much as would be expected. Amazingly smooth with a little dryness.
Light carbonation with a big body. Some nice creaminess meets the lips and fills the mouth. Maybe even a slight sensation of oiliness in the mouth.
A really nice beer that could have some more bourbon and oak flavors to boost it up a little. The pour and aroma are up there with any good bourbon stout but the flavor just doesn't come on big like the rest. Enjoy!
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than selfish and worry about my liver.'" - Jack Handy
