A "meat and potatoes" type of beer. Also goes well with corned beef, shepherd's pie, stews and other traditional Irish fare.
My first Irish Ale so I was surprised with the roasted malt flavor as I didn't expect it from a "red" beer. I guess I still have memories of Killians Red from college when I thought it was the best beer ever! :)
Hint of caramel. Finishes a little dry. Advertised as a meat and potatoes beer, I definitely would have to agree.
