Poured clear but dark with an inch of tan foam. Retention was average at best as the foam became a little frothy. Lacing is sticky and sheeting.
Aroma was on the light side. What I could get from the beer: nut, caramel and roasted malt with an ever so slight clean, earthy hops, makes it dead on for the style.
Taste is almost an exact carbon copy of the nose. The malt, of course, is the focus of the beer. Nutty, toasty, and caramely with the nutty malt taking on the spotlight. A spicey hop finishes off the beer with a slight bitterness and spice in the after taste.
Medium at best body with light carbonation. I would say the body is actually thin and a bit watery. Slightly creamy.
Why oh why do Michigan beers seem to always be thin. This beer has all the makings of a really good beer but the mouth feel leaves me wanting. I still gave it decent marks because it is slow close and I liked the beer. Enjoy!
