Poured clear with a smidgen of tan foam which quickly became nothing more than a ring around the glass.
Wow! Aroma is full of cherries and some sourness (maybe tartness would be a better description). This is closer to Wisconsin Belgian Red than I can imagine. An enchanting oak scent is there to accent the cherries. Darn tootin' good.
Oh my, this is not a stout. Someone is tinkering with my senses. Cherry is there throughout with it initially being sweet and finishing on the tart side. Oak seems to creep up and take a mild seat in the finish.
Big amount of carbonation but saying it is medium bodied might go either way on the light or heavy side. Ever
Hard to believe I had a stout in my glass - both the aroma and flavor are so far from the truth, but, man, that makes it so much fun. Sort of like a magician who uses slight of hand and misdirection to deceive and confuse us. Enjoy!

Aroma: Crazy...crazy good. Cherry tart and a mellow woody, WOW.
1st Taste: Surprisingly fresh, cherry fruit, perfectly tart sweet, and a background of vanilla oak.
Overall: This sounds weird, I'm not sure which I like better, sniffing or sipping this brew. New Glar is taking local fruit brews to astral levels. I don't want to describe all the flavors and nunaces, it's like telling someone what they should appreciate about a great work of art.
Un-plugged is the perfect description for this brew, in all of the sense of free form riffing, creative to the bone vision and nuances. Limiting distribution to only Wisconsin makes this brew hard to obtain. But seek it out at all costs, to touch the highest level of the American craft brewery skills in the year of the Dark Lord 2010.
