  • Poured opaque but somewhat clear. More than an inch of frothy, tan, thick foam. Retention was outstanding. Lacing was a little sticky and heavier near the top of the liquid.

Aroma is roasted malt up front and most prominent. Chocolate, coffee, and bitterness seemingly form the chocolate are all in the back ground. Hints of smoke.

Taste is another round of large and in charge roastedness. Chocolate and coffee subtlety are a good balance and add complexity. Bitterness starts in the middle and lasts through the finish - not from hops but malt.

Bigger end of medium body with ample carbonation. Drying to the mouth.

Almost has some qualities of a stout. It is at the bigger end of the porter world. A quality porter that is definitely worth a try, just maybe not too many at once. Enjoy!
