Pilgrim, Goldings
Poured opaque with a beautiful brown, frothy, inch foam. Good retention with some very sticky lacing beginning right away. Sheeting lacing throughout once you start to drink.
Aroma is slight. There is a definite Belgian presence from the yeast but with big American roasted stout scents. Quite the mix. After a while it seems as if the roasted malt takes over completely. Alcohol aroma is there but ever so slightly.
Taste finishes with a banana presence from the yeast. Roasted malt with coffee and that is about it. Just like the nose, slight.
Big body with that almost feels watery with a fair amount of carbonation.
Not a bad beer, just not a great beer. The aroma and flavors don't come on strong enough for me. I want more out of "special" beer than faint sense titillation. Enjoy!
