Poured clear but the dark color made it slightly opaque. A half of glass of redish, brown, frothy, thick foam filled my glass. Retention was nice and slow while there wasn't much lacing: splotchy and very sporadic.
Aroma is actually nicely complex. Grain is mixed with fruit on top with toffee and hints of roasted malt. Very mild coffee coming in late. A malt lovers dream.
Taste is much thinner than expected with the big nose. Still good. A nice roasted flavor in the finish that could be on the border of faint coffee and/or chocolate. Toffee sweetness plays a roll too.
Very mild carbonation on a medium, at best, body.
An interesting and layered beer. Easy to drink with a bit of cloying sweet at times. I don't know if I would seek it out or want multiple at the same time but I would have it again. Enjoy!
