Pours clear. Several inches of dense, off-white foam cover the top of the beer. Retention is nice with the foam becoming frothy as it recedes. Sticky lacing begins right away.
Aroma is mostly of hops on the a caramel scented malt backbone. Pine has the biggest hop presence with floral and citrus notes developing. No oak. Aroma is good but a little on the weak side.
Taste has sweetness up front with another blast of sweetness in the finish as it is highlighted by a floral addition in the end. Bitterness from pine and citrus seems to come in the middle of the beer with no bitter traces in the end.
Light end of medium body at best with about the same amount of carbonation. Some hop oils hit the lips and mouth. Dries the mouth too.
The combination of body, carbonation, malt, and hops really make this a super easy drinking ipa. The lack of bitterness really helps. Outside of a dry mouth, presumably from the oak, not much complexity added from the aging. Intentional? Enjoy!
