Pours clear with a half glass (vigorous pour) of tan, frothy foam. Retention was in the middle. Lacing is mild and slippery - as in it slips back into the glass following the flow of the beer.
Aroma is sweet cherry as well a sour cherry. Cinnamon and nutmeg are spices that bring up the rear almost giving me slight thoughts of Oktoberfest beers from that perspective. Oak and vanilla seem to have their place as well.
Taste is not a sour as I thought up front but becomes more puckering in the finish. Similar cherry highlights as the aroma. Vanilla and oak are more prevalent with the finish mildly drying the mouth.
Light in the mouth with about average carbonation. A well balanced beer: fruit, tart, sweet, dry, and a touch of funk for pizazz.
This is a complex beer that stills finds a way to quench my thirst and go down easy. Maybe a little too sweet to drink more than one or two, at most, at a time. If you like fruit beer, drink New Glarus, they make some of the best. Enjoy!
