Pours clear with a beautiful inch of off-white, pudgy foam. Retention is quite good with the foam becoming liked whipped cream. Lacing is sticky, thick, and lasting.
Aroma isn't all that strong with a sweet, caramel, almost toffee malt being in the lead. There is a citrus hop presence but very minor.
Flavor is some nice malt that is rather fulling. Almost like a bread or doughy malt. Interesting. Hops come in the finish, not strong, but the bitterness in the end sneaks up on you and hits you hard for a second or two.
Bigger in the mouth than expected as I would say it is really a full bodied beer. Carbonation is a minor player here.
The alcohol is well hidden. The beer would make a good spring or fall beer with the bigger body on it. Still drinkable and a fun beer. When I saw that black patent malt was used, I thought the beer might be interesting, it was. Enjoy!
