Pours opaque with a huge, frothy, thick, brown foam. Retention is quite good with some splotchy, scattered lacing. Aroma is bold: roasted and smoke (peat) are on the forefront. Not much else makes it out. Taste is once again very malt forward. Slightly sweet, maybe, with dark malts coming through: roasted, burnt, chocolate, and smoke. Pours clear with a huge white, thick foam. Retention is amazing as the froth builds, lacing is left that is sticky but light. Aroma is sweet caramel malt hidden behind bold hop scents: floral and citrus. Taste starts off sort of bland with middle having some sweet and bread malt with both building through to the finish. Pours cloudy with some floaties. White, wispy foam covers the beer. Retention is minimal while lacing is sheeting an non-sticky. Aroma is citrus, pine, and fruity hops. There is malt sweetness too. Quite good on the sniffer. Taste is full of fruits and citrus with sweet and pine notes. The fruit and citrus are the biggest attractions with mild bitterness at most in the finish. A: Big orangey, with complementary off-white fluffy head of medium retention. S: Big citrus and malt back. T: Nice blend of hop citrus and a little fruit. Definately the semi-sweet side of the spectrum. And finishes dry with a very soft fruitiness fad. A tad of hop bit lingering in the aftermath. Don't find any of the alcohol. A: Rich deep amber. Nice off-white full foam head of medium retention. S: Very low level notes, and hard to get a read on anything specfic. T: Spicy, piney note, and woody flavors. Pours perfectly clear with a quarter inch of white foam. Retention is average or a little worse, Aroma is subdued. Sweet caramel and some bread malt but that's about it. A little disappointing. Pours a dank, dirty shade of gold, light penetrates but not clear. Head is minimal but white with fleeting retention. Lacing is spotty and wispy. Cloudy with some floaties brought on by a vigorous pour. The foam is thick, off-white, and about 1.5 inches of goodness. Retention is about average with the foam frothing up a bit. Pours clear with an inch of tan foam. Retention retreats quickly, before slowing and taking its time for the latter half. Lacing is sheeting but falls back to liquid level. Pours clear into my snifter with about an inch of slightly off-white, meringue foam. Retention is average at least. Lacing is sheeting but thin. Aroma has lots of malt: caramel for sweetness with toasted and biscuit scents. There is some fruitiness going on but I don't get much on the hops. Taste is malt forward. 2009 bottle. Pours cloudy with a big, two inch , frothy, tan foam. Retention is above average while the lacing is minimal. Aroma is big on the sweet malts. Slight alcohol with a side of dark fruits that are a pleasant addition to the caramel and toffee sweetness. Wood, like oak, come through faintly.
