Warrior IPA

Left Hand Brewing Company

American India Pale Ale

7.0 by scot have another Warrior IPA by Left Hand Brewing Company

Poured clear into my pint glass. A huge, white, and frothy foam had great retention, well into the drink. Lacing was nice and sticky. Citrus, fruity, and floral notes with most coming from hops I would suspect. A sweet malty presence is also there. Taste is similar to the aroma. The citrus and fruity flavors a really the keynote to the beer. There is a very late bitterness to the beer that makes itself known without being rude. Medium body and carbonation. A good ipa, nothing spectacula...read more

Dreadnaught

Three Floyds Brewing Company

Imperial/Double India Pale Ale

9.3 by scot have another Dreadnaught by Three Floyds Brewing Company

Poured clear into my Two Brothers tulip glass. Foam is big, large bubbled, and off white. Retention is great and becomes a little frothy on top as it recedes. Unless it takes you more than three days to drink this beer, I would imagine there will always be foam on top. Lacing begins from the start, leaving s lightly sticking foam on the sides of the glass. Aroma begins with the popping of the cap. Hops, hops, and more sense shattering hops. Citrus, mango, pine, and peach (just as the bott...read more

Milk Stout

Lake Louie Brewing

Milk/Sweet/Cream Sout

9.0 by scot have another Milk Stout by Lake Louie Brewing

Poured clear as I could tell into my favorite mason mug. A beautiful, dark tan, and frothy foam about a two inches tall adorns the top of the brew. Great retention that leaves behind a sticky, somewhat web-like lacing. Aroma is your typical milk stout, which I like. Sweet and roasted aromas intermingle like old friends brought together for a special evening. Taste is really good. Sweet up front followed by a rush of roasted flavors. Roasted last a bit in the mouth but it is pleasantly d...read more

Dynamo Copper Lager

Vienna Lager

Poured clear with a couple of inches of nice bubbly foam. Retention was fair with almost no lacing. Aroma has a lot going on besides the expected malt. Fruity, honey, and a slightly spicy hop profile. Taste sweet malt up front, honey and fruity middle, and finishing with spicy hops and and slight fruits. Nothing is over done here but everything seems to balance well. Light on the carbonation with a medium body at best. One easy drinking, refreshing, and crisp beer. Having several of thes...read more

Sheep Shagger Scotch Ale

Tyranena Brewing Company

Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy

8.0 by scot have another Sheep Shagger Scotch Ale by Tyranena Brewing Company

Poured clear with more than an inch of tan, big bubbled foam. Average retention with a slight forthiness forming. Aroma is sweet with peat smoke, rich toffee, and malt. Smoke is the strongest on the nose. Taste is very sweet with smoke and toffee. Finish is a mix of smoke and toffee giving off a burnt/coffee flavor that is interesting. Medium body and medium carbonation with a splash of creaminess. A drinkable beer that is easy to a few or more, especially during the colder months. Enjoy...read more

Double Bastard Ale

Stone Brewing Company

American Strong Ale

8.0 by scot have another Double Bastard Ale by Stone Brewing Company

Poured slightly cloudy into my pint glass. A nice, deep tan, thick foam that was about an inch in height came out of the bottle. Retention was good with a more than usual amount of foam left behind. Thick, sheeting lacing throughout. Aroma has a base in bready malt with a big pine hop presence. No real heat on the nose. Taste is sweet up front followed by thick bread malt, alcohol burn as it goes down, and a big bitterness that mixes with the alcohol in the finish, staying behind in the af...read more

Poured slightly cloudy into a pint glass. Nice, inviting, huge, white foam that was a little frothy and became more as it receded. Nice sticky lacing, clung to the glass for life. Aroma is sweet with a big citrus with a slightly spiced hop aroma. Citrus is really big and nice. Some alcohol on the nose too. Taste is sweet up front with some a tropical fruitiness ending with citrus and slightly spiced hops. Bitterness is minimal as the beer almost sweet with an alcohol twinge on the way dow...read more

Mad Elf Ale

Tröegs Brewing Company

Belgian Dark Strong Ale

7.0 by scot have another Mad Elf Ale by Tröegs Brewing Company

Poured clear with a nice, somewhat frothy foam. Retention was okay. Lacing is blotchy and sporadic. Aroma is of a much deeper, darker beer than appears in my glass. Spicy, yeast, cherry, and an overall fruitiness. Taste is sweet, tart cherry, yeast, spice, and some type of fruit besides cherry. There is a lingering sweet cherry flavor that I would say is ever so slightly syrupy. No alcohol was evident in the taste for me or the nose. Medium carbonation and body. The mouth seems to be a ...read more

Double Barrel Ale

Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

Ordinary Bitter

8.0 by scot have another Double Barrel Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

Poured clear into a pint glass. Huge, off-white, frothy foam. Retention was great with the foam becoming thicker as it diminishes. Lacing, nope. Aroma is a backbone of bready malt with a nice subtle fruity hops presence. The hop aroma did seem to leak out the fruit after being open a while. Make sure to sniff it quick. Some sweetness. Fresh tasting at first with some sweetness. The beer finishes with a bready malt flavor that sticks around in the aftertaste. Herbal hops are also there ...read more

Milk/Sweet/Cream Sout

Poured into a pint glass with a big, brown, and beautiful foam. Really good retention as it became a thin layer on top of my brew, but lacing was lacking. Aroma is roasted with chocolate and hints of dark fruit. Sweet lactose is the finish. Clean. Taste is full of roasted malt almost from the beginning through the end into the finish. Chocolate and sweet (lactose) are also there but definitely riding shotgun. Medium body and light carbonation that are good for the style. Very roasted aft...read more

Poured clear with a huge dark tan, frothy, and sticky foam. Retention was really good. Lacing was sticky and web like, starting when the foam receded. Very inviting. Aroma of pine and citrus hops meets the nose first. Very quickly followed by caramel sweet malt backbone. Hints of alcohol burn the hairs in my nose also. Taste is sweet caramel malt to start with the alcohol and hop flavors starting in the middle and finishing. Hop bitterness continues to the after taste. Carbonation is me...read more

AleSmith Grand Cru

Belgian Dark Strong Ale

Poured dirty with an off-white foam that had no retention or lacing. The bottle is better to look at then the beer itself. Aroma is malty: sweet, roasted, and chocolate with a bit of dark fruit coming through. Some alcohol to boot. Taste is a picture of the aroma: malts, dark fruits, and alcohol. Medium bodied with the mouth being dry, yet syrupy with, somehow, a hint or two of creaminess. A really big beer that is so well done that it is drinkable in spite of the presence of the large alc...read more
