Aroma: To paraphrase Little Richard, "tutti fruity, rudy!" Fruiteriffic monster whiffs. Strawberries and more. 1st Taste: Muted taste versus the upfront aroma. The fruit taste is present, but far from overwhelming. There's also a touch of tartness. Overall: Interesting blend of flavors done well. Not sure I've found a ton of fruit beers that I'm a huge fan of....but would likely rate this higher on a summer day. Argued with Big Scot that this reminded me of Magic Hat's Wacko. He said...read more

Poured clear with a big, white, frothy foam. Retention was okay as the big bubbled foam eventually became a thin layer on the beer. Lacing was at a minimum. Aroma is sweet and full of a ton of berries: strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry. Just a bunch of berry goodness. Taste is similar to the nose. There is a lot of sweetness surrounded by berry flavor, mostly strawberry and blackberry. Ends sort of abruptly; maybe because of the lack of carbonation. A slight tartness to the finish. Poured clear with a full inch of frothy, tan foam. Fair retention. Blotchy, non-sticky lacing throughout. Fantastic yet interesting aroma for a brown ale, almost IPA like. Aroma is big on the dry hops: floral and citrus and well blended. In spite of the big aroma it is still subtle. Bread and nut scents with a touch of roast in the background. Taste is full of malt: bread, caramel, and sweet making up the bulk of the beer. A squirt of hops in the middle/end seem to coat the back of the t...read more

Aroma: Large citrus aroma, it's dry hopped. Could just sniff this beer and be happy. 1st Taste: A soft but pronounced hop bitterness is first, then followed by an unusual mix of sweet flavors. Overall: Love this beer. This beer comes at ya from all angles with unexpected taste sensations. It's kind of a style buster, it has all the traditional characteristics but in a complex order/sequence. It's refreshing for a Brown. But, make no mistake this beer it's got a personality as big as a rock sta...read more

Had many different brews over the days around Xmas. In vac mood and didn't take note, but working back into the habit. Esp. for one of the brews that stand out amoung many. Aroma: Roasted malt and a coffee sweetness. First taste: Brewer knocked the ball out of the park with this one. I was immediatelt hit with a slightly smoky, ,molasses tasting brown ale that takes the style to the top. Overall: Not everybody likes browns and porters. It's historically the poor man's brew and can be easy to ...read more

Poured clear with a full inch of tan foam. Retention is minimal leaving a very slight covering on the liquid. Blotchy here and there lacing at best. Aroma is molasses sweetness with dark fruits. Roasted malt also. Taste is similar to the nose with some ever so slight chocolate and coffee. Some bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Medium body at best with a fair amount of carbonation. Seems just a bit thin. I could drink a few of these without any problem. Sam Adams did a good job h...read more

Poured clear with a thick, pink-tinted frothy foam. Nice retention with some sticky, blotchy lacing. Aroma is not of a lambic like I had expected. Instead there is a forced cranberry aroma that seems from concentrate. There is sweet malt that is the strongest aroma. There is also something else but I can't place it, no matter, it isn't all that pleasant. Taste of a slight touch of sour, some sweet, cranberry. The finish feels like a squirt of juice hitting the back of my throat - juicy,...read more

Poured clear with an inch, sticky, tan foam. Retention was below average while the lacing was blotchy throughout. Aroma of roasted and molasses that adds a lot of sweetness. Spices are pleasant and well balanced: ginger and cinnamon. Dark fruits make a subtle appearance. Taste is molasses sweet with a well balanced spice similar to the aroma. Dark fruit are near the end with it lingering to the after taste. Medium body and carbonation that go well with the beer. This is very drinkable ...read more

Poured clear with a huge frothy, off-white head. Retention wasn't bad and the lacing was sticky. Aroma is caramel with some ever so light spice. Spices of ginger and possibly from the type of hops used. Minor roasted scent. Taste is sweet up front with caramel. Some spice comes through the rest of the way with roasted taking a back seat. The spice lingers and once again seems to possibly be part of the hop profile. Body is medium with a bit of chewiness and medium carbonation each good ...read more
