Poured clear into my favorite mason mug. Big fluffy, white foam with fair retention and some sticky lacing. Aroma of wheat and lemon. Floral possible. Taste of wheat and lemon with touch of spice and floral. Light, light, and more light. Not much carbonation or body. Why would a summer beer be included in the winter pack? Didn't they sell out of it? This is a pretty weak beer all around. I am condemning just because they are Sam Adams, this is more appealing of the masses. A summer be...read more

Poured clear with a single finger of slightly off-white foam. Retention was minimal with some blotchy lacing. Aroma of caramel, sweet, and molasses overwhelm the nose with some roasted notes. Doughy or bready scents are present with a slight nuttiness. Taste of rich, sweet caramel and molasses malt. Dark fruits, alcohol, and bread flavors reach through also. Medium or better body with the same amount of carbonation. A really good example. I liked this beer and if it wasn't for Rich rush...read more

Poured clear with at least an inch of tan foam that looked a bit sticky and frothy. Good retention for the amount of the foam. Aroma is smoke, dark fruits (almost vinegar), sweet, caramel, and molasses. This beer is nothing short of bold on the sniffer. Taste is sweet up front. The middle and even the end of the beginning starts to inject peat smoke which last through the end and even into the after taste. Molasses and dark fruits are part of the middle and end. The peat almost seemed fak...read more

Poured clear with a tan, frothy, sticky, one inch foam. Nice retention with a sticky foam staying on the glass throughout. Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. A dark fruit is in there too, not sure of the type. Taste is of similar malt: caramel and roasted with the caramel giving some sweetness. Dark fruit is slightly there. Finishes weakly with a metallic after taste. Not that appealing. The body is a bit thin with medium carbonation. Not that appealing of beer for me. There is a de...read more

Poured clear as day with a big, pristine white, large bubbled foam. Retention was great with the foam becoming frothy, almost meringue like, as it subsided. Sticky lacing throughout. Aroma light malt with floral, lemon, and honey joining the mix. The scents are subtle overall. Taste is very light with not much to mention - a nice mix of subtleness. There is a bit of hop spices in the finish. Sweet, honey, and lemon all eventually can be made out. A light beer all the way around: carbona...read more

Poured clear with an inch of pink-hued, white foam. Retention was minimal leaving a thin layer on top of the beer. Lacing is below average leaving some blotchiness behind. Aroma is tart, cranberry, with some balancing sweet. Acidic and a bit spice but both seem somewhat mild. Taste is big on cranberries as should be expected. Tartness is there but not as big as I expected. There is a sweetness in the beginning of the taste that only grows in size throughout, culminating with the tart to...read more

Poured as clear as I could tell into my Two Brothers tulip glass. Two inches of tan, sticky foam that had really good retention while leaving some nice sticky legs on the glass while receding. Aroma is chocolate with a sweet lactose scent behind it. Roasted malt with a small bit of coffee and dark fruit. Taste of chocolate, lactose, coffee, and dark fruit performing an nice medley on my taste buds. As the beer warms (almost room temp) a dark coffee flavor becomes stronger in middle. A rea...read more

Poured darker than midnight and my ability to check if the beer was clear or not was completely inhibited. Over an inch of frothy, brown, sticky and delicious looking foam. Retention was outstanding and as it receded it left behind some brown sticky lacing. Aroma is big and complex. Coffee and chocolate hit my nose first. Citrus hops also had its moment in the spotlight. Roasted scents mildy are in the background. Taste is coffee that has some bitterness. Roasted and chocolate flavors ab...read more

Poured clear with a very thin layer of off-white foam. Retention was minimal at best with a tad of lacing throughout. Aroma of sweet toffee malt. Fruit is of the dark variety: plum and raisin. There is a slight spicy scent that wraps around the alcohol. Towards the end there is more caramel malt. Taste is big on the caramel and toasted malt with a sweet kick. Slight spiciness in the middle with the dark fruit peaking through strongly. The alcohol is there in the end but only slightly. C...read more

Poured cloudy with just a frosting of white foam that was less than comfortable staying around. A trace here and there of lacing throughout. Aroma has fruit, spice, and some alcohol. Yeast and wheat are there but slightly covered by the big waft of fruit. Taste is a sweet fruity burst to start. Wheat, yeast, pale malt follow with some fruitiness in the finish. Some bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste along with spice. Some alcohol coats my throat making its presence known. Big amou...read more

First things first: Rich thank you for bringing this one back from you latest trip to Detroit. Poured clear and aggressively creating a big, frothy slightly off-white foam that had some really good retention with some sticky lacing. Aroma of toffee and caramel malt that give a sweet scent with a breeze of nut. Not much else that I could find. Taste has a distinct bitterness up front that also lingers in the finish. Between and all around is the malt: sweet at first with some toffee and cara...read more
