Poured a touch cloudy into my mason meg glass. Fluffy then frothy, bubbly, off-white foam engulfed my beer having twice the capacity as my beer (poured boldy). Sticky, spider web like lacing. Aroma is big in the sweet malt department complimented by a nice but not overwhelming floral hop scent. Citrus hops are prancing in the background. Devout is a beer brewed with a home brewer who won an award for this beer in a home brew competition. On tap into a pint glass. Single finger of brown foam. Retention is about average before becoming a thin mocha layer on top of my beer. Blotchy lacing here and there. This is Killer Kapowski aged in oak bourbon barrels for 5 months. On tap in a 12oz. snifter - served too cold, as usual on tap, so I let it sit for a good 20 minutes. A finger of frothy, brown foam with a fair amount of retention. Some very light blotchy lacing. Aroma is big on the bourbon that this beer sat in. Poured with a slight haze into my mason mug. Some white foam that dissipated to a thin white layer on the straw liquid. Lacing really doesn't exist. Aroma is yeast, honey, light malt, floral, and even a hint of spice. Taste is a bit thin. Sweet malt, honey, with a touch of yeast. There is a slight floral presence that doesn't last long and quickly gets engulfed by the malt. No after taste or hop bitterness to speak of. 2008 vintage. Poured clear into my eagerly awaiting snifter. A single finger of bubbly foam that wasn't much for hanging around as it quickly became just a light coating on top of the beer. Lacing was minimal at best. Aroma had some beautiful hops and a caramel sweetness to help balance. A deep waft let you take in the alcohol. Poured with a lot of little floaties. A nice off-white, almost tan bubbly foam. Retention fades quickly and there is some hit or miss splotchy lacing. Aroma of caramel, toasted, sweet malt. Alcohol is present along with bread and even a small tinge of nut. Some dark fruit comes through to boot. Taste of sweet malt up front. Toast and biscuit malt in the middle. Aroma: Roasted Chocolate and little earthy. 1st Taste: Slightly sweet, maybe dark fruits with roasted flavor in the background. As it should be, very well balanced. Overall: In my youth, we camped in Ontario, Canada and the highlight was the "unusual" beer we could buy at the Brewers Retail stores. Poured clear with a nice frothy, off-white, two-inch foam. Some really awesome retention with sticky, spider web like lacing. Nice pour. Aroma is on the light side over all but nevertheless there is some nice pine, citrus, and floral hops that mingles with sweetness. Some earth scent is present in the back ground. Poured clear into a pint glass with a tall, tall bubbly, white foam. Foam becomes a little frothy as the it shrinks down. Outstanding retention for the style. Aroma is lemon, spicy hops. Lager yeast has a presence. Toasted, sweet malt is the backbone of the beer but doesn't take a huge seat in the sniffer, rather enough to know it is there. Poured clear into my snifter glass. Foam was not much more than a layer of white bubbles to begin as it quickly became a wreath if light bubbles around the side of my glass. Lacing, some here and there but not much to speak of. Aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and some pumpkin. Poured clear into a snifter. Half inch of white, bubbly foam that had low retention, becoming just a minor sheeting over the top of the beverage. A little bit of blotchy lacing. Aroma is a pleasant combination of nutmeg, cinnamon, and light pumpkin. Probably one of the better pumpkin beers I have had in terms of balance on the sniffer. Purple wax adorned the top of the bottle. I recently picked this up but, based on when it was bottled, it might be on the downside of the hop flavor/aroma. Poured cloudy with a nice slice of tan, frothy foam. Retention was average for an IPA with some spider web like lacing throughout.
