Poured clear and could only get about two-thirds of the beer in my glass before the thick, white foam started to ooze over. Good retention and okay lacing.
Nose is full of a balance between caramel malt and citrus/grapefruit and floral hops. Clean and refreshing aroma. If the taste follows, it will be damn good.
For an imperial a very nice balance between the sweet malt and hops. The malt sweetness starts the beer and it finishes with citrus and floral hops. Not much bitterness or hop aftertaste. Well done. Hint of alcohol hit the back of my throat in the after taste.
Body is medium and low in carbonation giving a oily, creamy feeling in the mouth.
I have to admit I purchased this beer based on all the hubbub around Dogfish Head, I don't think it is misplaced on this beer. I will being enjoying the other two I have left in the four-pack and looking to review the 60 and 120 brands. Not as big of a hop bomb as some of the west coast crazies. Enjoy!
