Color is really light. Makes me wonder how much rye was used.

Pours clear with an inch of pure white foam. Retention is average. Sporadic lacing.

Aroma is mild but hop forward. Grassy, herbal and spice notes, with the two latter bringing the most heat. No real malt or hints of rye.

Taste is bits of the same. Grassy and herbal hops are joined by hints of rye with a more malt forward flavor. Bitter in the finish, not overwhelming. Spicey finish. Rye? Hops? Bitterness builds, bringing down the sessionalness of the beer.

Thins, at times, watery body. Medium plus carbonation tries to amp up that body. Dry,

WTF is an "Imperial session rye ipa." How may a beer be imperial and sessionalable? Irregardless, the rye here is lacking, as are the hops and the ability to session this 6%+ beer. I would have it again but only because I have two left in the four pack. Enjoy!

Beer Notes
  • Alrye'd Alrye'd Alrye'd is a Rye IPA brewed with Crystal hops from Michigan for a pronounced dankness, citrusy bright character, and an agreeable spiciness that plays well with its rye malt base.
