  • This is the 10 year anniversary edition. Can't believe I still have a bottle from the first release.

Pours opaque. Huge, thick mocha foam covers. Recedes rather quickly but leaves sticky rings behind and throughout the drink.

Aroma is subdued but complex. Coffee and espresso (more on the espresso side than that old fashioned coffee) is met with roast malt and chocolate. Hints of tobacco develop.

Taste follows the nose: subdued. There are additional elements. Espresso and some coffee are there throughout. Roast and chocolate come middle, lingering, creating a sense of bitterness on the hind end. Molasses adds sweetness.

Mouthfeel is big. There is a sense of creaminess. Possibly milk sugar? Carbonation seems spot on for the style, trending towards a bit high late in the sip as it tingles the back of the mouth.

This is a wonderful offering from Half Acre. The nose is definitely the star. The taste and mouthfeel bring it down notches with the rough, late carbonation and sweetness. Definitely worth your time. Enjoy!

Beer Notes
  • Imperial Coffee drinking Stout. This beer is a thug. Available each year sometime in December, we work with Dark Matter Coffee to keep each batch as ruthless as it is tender.
