Received as a gift from Sheri and Mike. Thank you!
Day 20 of 24 beers of Christmas 2021. Date on can of 2021-11-12.
Pours opaque with over an inch of light mocha, big bubbled foam. Good retention. Lacing contains said large bubbles making it not look that impressive. Most of the lacing does creep back to level (not sticky).
Aroma is undeniably sweet. Chocolate, vanilla and milk sugar intertwine creating a sense of a cake stout. Did I mention it is very sweet on the nose.
Taste is similar to the aroma. Big vanilla, chocolate and creamy sweetness that begins to linger. Roast begins to build, really late. Is more German chocolate cake than just hot chocolate?
Big, heavy body. High end of light carbonation. On the brink of cloying.
This is a rich hot chocolate poured over a heavy chocolate cake. This may be better at room temperature but I don't want to endure the sugar rush that is attacking my brain. Enjoy!
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than selfish and worry about my liver.'" - Jack Handy
