  • A: Nice clear, deep gold. Small bubble, off-white foam head.

S: Grapefruit, biscuity, and grassy. Fresh is the one word description that comes to mind.

T: A quick, bright blend of hop citrus, light malt sweet, and a very soft hop tinge. And a very refreshing mouthfeel.

D: Very drinkable, and I keep using fresh and bright in this description, but that's what it is. Perfectly balanced, no one element sticks out. There's no way you'd guess the 7.5% abv. I drink this brew daily if I had access.

  • Poured into a 12 ounce snifter at the Darkness release at the Bavarian lodge. Not much foam in the glass as they tried to give you as much liquid as possible (they should since it is over $.50 and ounce).

Aroma was big on citrus hop aroma: grapefruit and orange with a splash of pine. Caramel malt with sweetness was barely there. Pleasant on the sniffer.

The taste was sweetness to start before the huge hops offering took over. Grapefruit hops was the strongest but orange and pine were also present. A little bitter in the end but the orange hops does a nice job of adding fruitiness to help balance the grapefruit.

Light bodied with carbonation that fits the beer and seems to be the perfect amount for the hops.

Like any tap beer it started off too damn cold. Let it sit. After 30 minutes this beer just jumps out at you from aroma through the taste, even the appearance is pleasing. I might be going back to the Lodge for more. Enjoy!
