Poured with a couple of fingers of slightly frothy, brown foam. Beautiful pour. Good retention with splotchy lacing throughout.
Light on the aroma yet complex. Chocolate, roasted, dark sweetness, and smoke all find there way.
The taste is similarly complex but not as subtle. Peat smoke, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and sweetness, with a bit of coffee. The dark fruit seem to also add a thin layer of tart to the complexity.
The carbonation seems to fit the chewy, creamy body.
Not as filling or as alcoholic as one might think up front. A really good beer but not the stellar beer that seems to be associated. Enjoy! - 631 characters
