  • Aroma: The best aroma ever, period, gold medal, end of story. Dark fruits and burnt brown sugar or caramel.

    1st Taste: Can there be a brew that is best appreciated only by the aroma. I guess it would be problematic getting a buzz from only sniffing it. Creamy full mouth, the fruit (raisin and black cherry)is present, along with some alcohol.

    Overall: Based on the aroma this beer is a ten. The mouthfeel is very full and slightly oily. There's a bunch of dark fruit and burnt brown sugar/caramel/toffee, per initial comments. If there's something that make this miss being a super fantastic beer, is the final bitter/tart flavor at the end. Some would suggest this big 10.2% abv would be perfection with aging. It's a very interesting brew that warrants further investigations.

  • Poured clear with an off-white to tan foam. Retention is about average. Blotchy lacing is here and then there.

    Aroma caramelized sugar and some good old fashioned malt. Cherry is soft and subtle, yet poignant. Good on the sniffer.

    Taste is sweet with toffee and caramel with a bitter finish with a strange transitional from the sweet to the bitter. Nonetheless a good beer with levels of complexity.

    Big in the mouth with a good for the beer amount of carbonation. Drying to the palate.

    A really big and complex beer. The subtle cherry makes for a very interesting layer to the beer. The nose is the best point of the beer. The taste isn't bad but suffers from smoothness throughout. I couldn't have more than one at a time but I would have another. Enjoy!
