Didn't know what to expect before I opened the bottle. The beer looked light and the label mentions it was brewed with agave and poppy seed flavors. So off to the website I went without popping the cap; just staring at the bottle and wondering what refreshing goodness lay behind the sealed bottle top.
The website has a special mini-site just for their line of odd notions beers. They give the visitor the ability to give feedback on each their three odd notions: spring, summer, and winter.
My taste buds ache, enough reading. Let's see the real deal...
Sweet bejesus, was I wrong with anticipation! The aroma from the bottle after I cracked the cap sort of frightened me: scent of something I really didn't care for. Once in the glass there was little to no foam with average carbonation. Had to work hard on this aroma: green beans and maybe some agave. Definitely not a beer whose scent is to be savored.
As I tasted the beer the aroma continued to blast my senses - very intense, making the flavor less than favorable. Slight bitterness to begin and ends with a stronger blast of bitterness. Another light beer from Magic Hat, so the mouthfeel followed.
Have one beer left: hopefully my neighbor will trade me something for it.
