Deep brown beauty, nice looking brownish head quickly dispated. Nutty upfront nose with roasted chocolately malt.
Nut sweetness and then roastly, semi-sweet malt. Taste notes of molasses, dark chocolate, and maybe very faint dark cherry in the background. Feel at first silky, medium with low carbonation, and finally slight dryness.
From a personal taste preference, there are multiple flavors in this brew that I like. It is well blended and the sum of it's part are very appealing. It's a bit of a style bender, but that's meant as a compliment. Very drinkable and enjoyable.
Poured opaque, much darker than expected. Foam was frothy, brown, and about an inch. Retention was average.
Aroma was chocolate and roasted malt. Nutty seemed most pronounced in a scent that wasn't to stiff.
Taste is sweet up front, almost faint to be honest. The finish is where it starts to take on more character: roasted, chocolate, with some drying on the palate. Chocolate seems to linger.
Medium body even though it seems thin at times. Ample carbonation but low end of medium. Creamy at times.
Interesting beer that has a lot of robust porter in its genes. Easy drinking for a beer with a bit of size. I could easily go for this again. Enjoy!
