Poured clear with a huge, off-white, very bubbly foam. Nice bubbles in the liquid on the side of the glass too. Retention was very nice with the foam becoming a bit frothy as it dissipates. Some spotty, sticky lacing throughout. Aroma is has a toasty, caramel, sweet malt backbone with a lemon grass hop scent. A little deficient on the nose overall. Taste is made up of a similar malt characteristics as the aroma: toasty, caramel, and sweet. There is some hops that seems to bit a bit lemony...read more

Bottle comes with a black-metalic wax to seal and to signify that it is Black Magic. Poured aggressively and clear into my pint glass. The aggressive pour brought out six ounces of beer and ten ounces of brown, frothy head that was darker near the beer. Pretty. Retention was average while the lacing was sticky and weby. Aroma is big on fresh citrus (orange) and floral hops. A touch of sweet. It is a wonderful scent and all of which I can find. I am sure there is some roasted in there but...read more

Aroma: It's a bakery, it's a spice shop, wow. 1st Taste: Spiced and creamy, a basic pleasant experience. Overall: Lot's of hype about this beer from anyone that lives within a 60-mile radius of Cleveland. After repeated tastes, still got the spice with a little malt sweet, and light-medium silky mouthfeel. It's a good blend of cinnamon and ginger along with all the other flavors in this brew. A couple around the holidays were be totally approriate, but can't see drinking a whole bunch of thes...read more

Poured clear with a big white to off-white, somewhat frothy foam. Retention was outstanding with a bit of sticky, web-like lacing. Aroma hits the nose with spices first: cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. That's about it. Taste has the same spices and a lot of them. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger - very similar to pumpking by Souther Tier. There is toffee and caramel that give a sweetness to the beer. Medium carbonation and medium body with some creaminess that sticks to your mouth. Alcohol doe...read more

Poured slightly cloudy with more than an inch of white foam. Retention was typical of an IPA: quickly bubbling away. Some but not much blotchy lacing. Aroma is of citrus and pine hop combination that plays nicely on the nose. There is a definite malt backbone: sweet, toffee, and caramel. Fruity scents that give off a fresh feeling to the beer. Taste is big up front on the malt: sweet. Then comes wave and wave of resiny hops: citrus, pine, and fruity, really tropical. The back end has som...read more

This was a gusher that Rich brought over. Luckily we each were able to get a full glass of beer out of it since I am so quick on my feet. Batch 347. Poured cloudy with some floaties. More off-white, frothy, sitcky foam than you can shake stick at. Some awesome retention with spider web, sticky lacing. Aroma is tart/sour as expected of the Pumpkin. Oak, slight hint of vanilla, malt, and the usual funk/earth. This beer is so complex and deep that everytime you waft it in you will find som...read more

Aroma: Slight musty, maye light lemony, and an unidentifed pleasant odor. 1st Taste: Sour, slightly sweet, maye a touch of citrus. Surprisingly light mouth feel and dry. Overall, like it. Admittedly I'm a neophyte to all the Belgians, so my opinion at this point is amaturist at best. I had trouble tasting much pumpkin. Good rustic farmhouse style, that's kind of fresh tasting....read more

Poured clear with a huge, white, frothy foam. Retention is really good as it slowly creeps back down the glass. Aroma is tart/sour, spice (cinnamon and nutmeg), and an ever so faint pumpkin. Of course the usual musty funk meets the olfactories too. Taste of tart is the biggest with some sour notes here and there. The spice is slight but cinnamon and nutmeg are there. Pumpkin washes over the tongue near the end. Sweet. Lots of tart carbonation on top of a light bodied beer. Dries out i...read more

Poured dark as night into my snifter. Had 1.5 inches of brown, bubbly foam that quickly became nothing much more than a thin coating on top of my beer. Blotchy lacing throughout. Aroma is of oatmeal, roasted malt, slight chocolate, and minimal nut. Seems to be a perfect match for the style. Taste has a brief hint of sweet followed by roasted, chocolate, and coffee flavors. Nicely layered. Hops is minimal if at all. Finishes off with coffee, even into the aftertaste. Medium, if not bette...read more

Received as a gift from a neighbor. Thank you Miles. Poured dark as midnight into my snifter. A nice inch of bubble, foam that ran away, quickly forming just a ring around my glass. A little bit of blotchy lacing. Aroma was of chocolate, dark fruit, molasses and a lot of malt. Roasted and burnt malt with some hints of coffee (maybe expresso since I a not a coffee guy). Bourbon alcohol scents show in the end. Taste is complex and huge like the ABV and very similar to the aroma. Chocolate...read more

Poured clear with a beautiful white, bubbly foam. Retention was in full retreat quickly, some blotchy lacing. Aroma is big on hops. Pine, citrus, and grassy hops scents are the most pronounced. There is a big malt back bone that almost seems to be of bread. Taste isn't as overwhelming as expected, which is good. A nice balance of sweet malt with wave after wave of hops. Citrus, pine, and floral hops mingle throughout the beer. The after taste is bitter, but a quick and short bitter with ...read more

Poured clear with an enormous, white, bubbly foam. Retention is average and the foam becomes a slight bit frothy as it dissipates. Somewhat sticky, thick foam lines the sides of the glass. Aroma has sweet, fruity, clove, peppery, and a touch of yeast. The fruit and sweet seem to elevate the overall sweetness scents while the spices make for a spicey combination. Taste is sweet up front followed by the spicey flavors of clove and pepper. The finish is fruit and a little yeast. The after ta...read more
