Ouisconsing Red Ale

Central Waters Brewing Company

American Amber/Red Ale

Poured clear with a huge, white, frothy foam into my favorite mason mug. Nice retention and some good old fashion lacing. Aroma has a big sweet malt backbone with grain/bread noticeable. Floral hop notes to boot. Taste starts with the big sweet malt transitioning to bread/grain in the middle, finishing with the floral and even lemon grass in the end. Some after taste of bitterness and grain. Light end of medium body with a fair amount of carbonation which is good for the beer. A nice dri...read more

Kellerbier/Zwickelbier

8.0 by scot have another Yokel by New Glarus Brewing Company

Poured clear into my pint glass. More fluffy, light, white foam than you can shake a stick at. Good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and some floral notes with a hidden spice from the hops. Taste has grainy, sweet malt with some floral and spice hops; similar to the nose. Very slight if any bitterness. Medium carbonation and lighter end on medium body suit this beer as expected. Refreshing and crisp. Not cloudy as I expected based on the style. But definitely easy o...read more

Stone Ruination IPA

Imperial/Double India Pale Ale

Poured clear with really nice fluffy, yet tightly packed white foam. Nice retention and some really nice spiderman, spider-web lacing. Umm, yum. The aroma gives the sniffer a big blast of pine and citrus hops. A clever blend that is very soothing on the nose and neither is over powering. Some sweetness up front from the malt. If this tastes like it smells, this is a home run. Here goes: bingo. Sweetness up front to try and balance out the blast of hops that comes next: pine and citrus wo...read more

The bottle is one-liter and blue glass with a flip lid. Nice presentation. Bottled in spring 2007. Poured clear into my pint glass with a full tan, fluffy, big bubble foam. Good retention and nice lacing throughout. Aroma has molasses, oak, vanilla, sweet malt, and bourbon. A nice blend for the sniffer that is enjoyable even while drinking. Smoooooooooooooooth. Similar flavors as scents on the nose. Maybe a hint or two of chocolate. The alcohol does not really come through on the beer ...read more

Collaboration Not Litigation Ale

Belgian Dark Strong Ale

Poured cloudy with a huge, off-white head in my pint glass. Good retention and nice blotchy lacing throughout. Sweetness and fruit tartness up front on the nose. Definite spice there too; seems like clove. Has a minor reminder of a Hefe. Sweet and slightly bready up front for the taste. Yeast, clove, and pepper in the finish that stay on the lips. Raisin or plum notes are present with a minor tartness that isn't as strong as the aroma. Medium carbonation with a body that is a bit bigge...read more

Revisited on 2011-08-01, adjusted from original 7.0 rating. Poured cloudy with a ton of floaties. Humongous, white, fluffy and frothy head. Awesome retention and great lacing. Aroma has a small amount of sweetness from bread malt, the rest of the aroma is from hops: pine, resin, and minor floral. Pleasant and clean on the nose. Slight touch of sweet up front for the taste. The rest of the beer is hops. Mainly of the citrus variety (grapefruit) along with spice and pine. After taste has...read more

Unearthly

Imperial/Double India Pale Ale

Love the aroma, sniffed this brew for at least five minutes. Sweet blend of citrus (grapefruit and orange) and light floral, and more. Very drinkable Imperial. All the big parts of this style are blended well and none overstate the other. There's a sweetness (caramel?) with fruitiness and a real malt substance to this brew that melds very well together. Slight taste of low hop bitterness at the end, but overall it doesn't have the hop taste you'd expect. I liked this brew alot. My only issue....read more

Poured clear into my pint glass. Nice full inch of off-white foam. Retention is fair until it becomes a slightly thicker than thin layer on top of the beer. Some nice spotty lacing. Aroma has some grain malt and slight sweet malt. The hops are floral and citrus but disappointing. The scent was weaker than expected and not as big as it should be for an imperial. Taste has the sweetness from the malt up front transitioning to slight grainy malt and some hops. Finishes with bitterness of ho...read more

La Folie Lips of Faith

New Belgium Brewing Company

Flanders Red Ale

Not familar with this style, and not sure I'm qualified to rate. The aroma did arouse my interest. It's a nose full cherry, woodsy, sweet, and a raft of other scents. Then, I took the first sip. Dude, is this brew sour or what. Plus, I can't get the cost of $16 for this bomber from additionally swaying my opinion. Seems to be more of a wine than brew. So, as I've said before, if you can't something nice don't say anything at all. Maybe, I'll give it another shot at a later date....read more

Poured clear with a nice half-inch of tan foam. Not much retention while eventually almost completely disappearing. No lacing. Aroma is big on sour fruits, maybe cherry sour. Lots of woody/oak with slight vanilla undertones. Earthiness/funkiness there too. Good on the sniffer. Wow, does that make you pucker. Sweetness and a touch of funk up front which becomes tart cherries, slight acidic, and vinegar in the middle, before the the finish hastens in the huge cherry sour with some oakiness...read more

Poured clear into a pint glass. Had a huge amount of slighlty off-white foam that made me make two pours. Good retention. Mmmm. That's what came out of my mouth when I smelled the beer. Really pleasant aroma of floral and citrus. Floral is stronger and awesome on the nose. Taste of sweet, caramel malt up front. The middle has big floral hops and transitions to slight bit of graininess and citrus hops. Leaves a little bitterness and floral hops in the after taste. Really nice. Medium c...read more

Poured clear with more off-white, frothy, thick foam than you can shake a stick at. Retention was okay as it retreated rather quickly for the amount of foam. Nice lacing. Sure is purty in the glass. Aroma is a citrus lair of bliss. Grapefruit and some floral notes in the end. The hop aromas are subtle but the overwhelming aroma of the beer. Taste of sweet, caramel malt up front. The malt backbone is throughout to balance the hops. The hops come on big in the middle throughout the end an...read more
