Poured cloudy with some floaties. Had a finger of off-white foam. Below average retention. Average retention. Aroma definitely has alcohol. Big oakiness, some vanilla, and sweetness like molasses. Big on the sniffer. Taste starts off smooth, changes to molasses sweetness with some oak. The finish is outstanding: blast of vanilla and alcohol. Feel the burn on the way down. Good amount of carbonation and heavy body with an alcohol burn that is pleasant. A sipper to the end and a great ...read more

Poured clear with a nice tan, two finger foam. Lacing wasn't that great as it quickly became a thin covering on the top of the beer. Lacing was blotchy. Aroma has big roasted malt. Some chocolate with a hint of hops. Very pleasant. Roasted, chocolate, and coffee flavors combine from the middle to the end. After taste has a little bit of coffee and bitterness. The beginning is very light and watery. Light carbonation and light body don't do this good sniffer any justice. You could drink...read more

Poured clear (as far as I could tell) into my mason mug. Had a nice frothy, tan, thick foam with long lasting retention and nice spider web lacing. Good looking porter. Aroma is a typical porter: roasted malt, coffee, mild chocolate, and very milt nuttiness. A fair balance on the nose. Taste starts off with a bit of caramel malt and some creamy chocolate, but only briefly before roasted malts in the middle. It finishes with coffee and bitterness. There is an aftertaste of slight bitternes...read more

Poured clear with a huge white fluffy head. Not bad retention and okay lacing. Probably more of a copper beer. Lots of malt on the nose. Caramel sweetness and minimal grain. Lots of floral hoppy notes. More than I would expect for the style but still good on the nose. Big malt as is expected for the taste. Bready, graininess and some sweetness. Ends with some hoppiness and minor floral notes. Some bread in the aftertaste from the malt. Not an overwhelming beer on the palate. Light ca...read more

Poured clear into my favorite mason mug. Had a huge amount of off-white, frothy foam. Retention was okay but not what I expected from that much head as it eventually was less than a covering on the top of my beer. Not bad lacing. Lots of sweet malt on the nose and brown sugar/molasses. Some dark fruit like prune. Taste is smooth and caramel to start, while in the middle there is a blast of molasses and sweetness, that gives into some alcohol, plum, fast hit of bitterness, and maybe a touch...read more

Had on tap at the FFF beer pub. Had single finger of white foam. Retention was there with some nice lacing. A really nice looking beer. Aroma was so good that I couldn't wait to drink the beer. Lots of grapefruit and citrus hops but with subtle scents of floral and pine. Nice combination of aromas. A sprinkle of caramel malt sweetness to help balance is there too. Just as good, if not better, smelling than it looks. Oh yeah baby, this is bliss to the tongue. Big grapefruit hops and som...read more

Poured clear with a finger or so of white foam. Not much retention and a little bit of lacing. Lots of malt on the nose: mainly grain. Maybe some hops but I might be reaching. Big malt in the mouth, similar to the nose: grainy. Very light hop notes, at best. Some metallic like flavors come through towards the end and in the after taste. Mild carbonation and light body. This is palatable but that's as far as I will go. Not something that I would pursue. The metallic flavor really wasn't...read more

Had some chill haze (even though I let it warm, might just be a hazy beer) on the pour. Lots of big, frothy, white foam. Good retention and lacing. Simcoe, simcoe, and then more simcoe. Really nice pine with some citrus notes. Of course there is some malty sweetness to try and help balance. Bits of sweet malt up front then the hop bomb ensues. Lots of pine hops finishing with citrus hops in the very end. After taste has citrus hops. Low carbonation and light body are in cahoots for a n...read more

Pours clear into my mason mug. Lots of tiny bubbles, tightly packed and off-white with some great staying power. Some good lacing to boot. Aroma has some caramel sweetness and breadiness from the malt. Pine and grapefruit hops. Mild on the nose overall as well as not as hop laden as expected. Initial thought is that the aroma, no matter how slight, is much better than the taste. There is some malt and hops but very sparsely distributed. Very light body and light carbonation. Watery. ...read more

Poured clear with so much off-white, frothy foam it took four pours to empty the bottle into the glass. Great retention and some nice lacing throughout. More malt and less hops than expected on the nose. Lots of caramel malt with some grassy hops. Not much on the nose overall. Taste has some creamy/oiliness up front along with some malt. Finishes with some thick, bready malts. After taste has some bitterness. The hops is very subdued with the a big malt backbone. Fair amount of carbona...read more

Poured clear into my mason mug. Had a huge, larger, but tightly packed bubbled, off-white foam. Really good retention as I was fighting off the foam for a while. Nice lacing. You know a beer with 84IBU is going to have to have some hops and it did. Big citrus hops after a blast of caramel malt. Both aromas are huge and balance each other. This is something else. Hops throughout. There isn't a part of this that doesn't have a hop flavor. Starts off with malt: sweet malt but also some r...read more

Pours clear with a nice big, frothy, off-white foam. Good retention and some nice spider web like lacing. The hop aroma bubbles over the top on this one without even getting close. Hop aroma was both piney and floral. There is some sweet caramel malt to help balance out. Most hop aroma I have ever experienced in an American Amber brew. Holy cow! After the aroma I didn't expect something this smooth. Sweet malt up front transitioning quickly to hops in the middle and end. Hops start flo...read more
