Poured clear with one finger of off-white foam. Not much retention but a little bit of lacing. Aroma big grapefruit hop aroma with a tinge of alcohol. Taste sweet up front with grapefruit hops in the end. Not much bitterness or aftertastes. Finishes nicely. Lower end of medium carbonation and medium body create a smooth drinker. A really good IPA. I will look for this one again. Has a great balance of sweet and bitterness. Very drinkable. Enjoy!...read more

Poured clear with three-fingers of off-white, almost tan foam. Some retention and no lacing. Aroma has big malt: caramel and sweet bread. Slight toffee or molasses scents to boot. Flavor starts off with sweet malt to get the taste buds going, followed in the middle by some caramel and even toasted malt, finishing with some bready notes. Not really much hops to notice. Maybe a little spice in the aftertaste. Carbonation is fairly light. Mouth feel is high end of medium, almost creamy at t...read more

Poured slightly cloudy with a huge, virgin snow white foam. Decent retention but not great. No lacing. Aroma is of peach, slight lemon, and sweet malt. Flavor starts off with sweet malt followed by some yeast and huge tartness that takes over the beer (true to style) and finishes with some grain/bready flavors. Light body and carbonation collaborate for a crisp and refreshing beer. Truly a unique style and this beer punches your taste buds with a pack of sweet tarts. Yummy if you don't mi...read more

Poured clear with a thick, off-white head. Good retention and spider-web type lacing. Aroma has some sweet caramel malt, grassiness, and piney hop notes. Not a big sniffer. Some sweet and bready malt with a hop finish. Some bitterness in the end. Don't know if I really expected this from the beer: aroma or taste. Low carbonation and light-medium body make for a drinkable brew. Good taste, good finish, and good ABV. Not a great beer but definitely a good beer. Enjoy!...read more

Poured cloudy with some floaties. The head was thick like meringue and off white. Tons of it. Good retention and lacing. Of course there is the sour/tart of a usual Jolly Pumpkin beer but this one is aided by vanilla, oak, and small amount of malt. Definite spice and hop finish with some bitterness. Not the usual overpowering tart but there is some yeast and tartness to it. Low carbonation and body as should be expected. Beer is good but I thought a little too spicy for me. It distracte...read more

Poured cloudy with enormous amount of off-white foam that was thick and velvety. Good retention and nice lacing. First scents from the bottle made me believe I was opening a bottle of wine. I know nothing about wine so I can't say the type of wine. Dried tart fruit, vanilla, a huge hit of oak, with a splash of malt. Taste is very similar to the aroma. There is the usual funk, sourness that most Jolly Pumpkin has. Hints of spice, earthiness, oak, and vanilla are to found also. Sour apple ...read more

Poured cloudy as do most Jolly Pumpkin beers with their bottle conditioning. Huge, velvet, tan, tightly packed foam with some floaties. Good retention with spider-web lacing. Aroma has some funky, sour yeast with dried fruit, vanilla, and earthiness. Dried sweet fruits dominate the beginning of the beer which moves into the sourness that the brett adds. No alcohol evident to the palate. Some spices. Medium body and carbonation work together to make a high alcohol beer that is easy to drin...read more

Poured cloudy with a huge velvet tan head, tightly packed. Retention was good and as it receded left some nice lacing. The nose has some sour notes (tart, pear, and green grape), vanilla (probably from the oak aging), and some spice. Taste is sweet with a lot of tart and minimal peppery spices. Makes your mouth pucker. Like a sweet tart. Some evidence of alcohol in the middle. Good combination of body and carbonation that leaves your mouth a little dry. Different as are most brews from J...read more

Pours with two fingers of tan foam into my favorite mason mug. Some retention with some lacing. Aroma has some big malt: caramel and grain with slight hint of smoke. I might even detect some alcohol. Taste begins caramel malt transitioning to brown sugar and more malt, ending with molasses, some smoke with a dried fruit, malty aftertaste. Interesting and huge malt. Heavy mouth feel with medium carbonation that mixes with the complexity to make a very drinkable beer. Lots of malt with many...read more

Poured cloudy with enough big bubbly, white foam for three beers. Not the kind of retention you would expect from all the foam with some spider-web lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and floral/grassy hops. Slight on the aroma but good scented burps later. Taste is sweet malt up front followed by more malt in the middle, finishing with hops, some bitterness, and mildly dry. Medium carbonation and lighter end of mouth feel lend to a smooth drinking brew. Based on the sub-name and the picture on th...read more

Poured cleat with lots of off-white foam. Good retention but just a tiny amount of lacing. Aroma was more of a big malt backbone than of the citrus hops that are there. I know it is a normal IPA, but I expected more as the graininess of the malt was more evident than the hops. Taste follows. Lots of sweet malt up front, with some grainy malt in the middle, ending with slight citrus hops. No real aftertaste at all. Nice blend of flavors. Low end of medium carbonation and light body blend ...read more

Poured clear with one inch of tan foam. Not much retention as the foam quickly becomes just a film on top of the beer. Nice spider lacing. Aroma is complex and full of goodness. Alcohol/bourbon, sweet molasses, coffee, and a strong vanilla. Combination is candy for the nose. The taste starts off with some sweet malt, followed in the middle by bitterness of the roasted/chocolate malt, and finishes with small chocolate, creaminess, and alcohol/bourbon. Slight alcohol and coffee aftertaste....read more
