Poured clear with two fingers of big-bubbled, white foam. Foam quickly disappeared to form a thin film over the top of the drink. Some retention. Floral and fruity notes with some sweet malt. Before I opened this I told Rich to be ready for some hops. I am still searching for them. Light taste. There is some sweet malt and some graininess. Finishes with some bitterness which I would imagine is from some hops. But, as in the aroma, I don't really taste any distinct hops. Light body and ...read more

Poured clear with three fingers of medium-thickness, off-white foam. Low retention with good lacing. F0am meanders down to a thin coat over the top of the beer. On the nose there is some nuttiness with some roasted malt. Aroma isn't that strong. Flavor follows and is typical for a brown ale. Nuttiness and some vanilla up front. Big malt backbone that finishes with a tad bit of coffee. Low on the carbonation and body. Refreshing beer (barely lasted in my glass). Maybe could be a little ...read more

Two inch of large bubbled, white foam as I poured the beer into my mason jar mug. Not the greatest retention but does some nice network lacing on the side of the jar. Not really complex on the nose. Simple: grassy and bready malt notes with a splash of lemon sweetness. To the eye the beer looks like summer is it's domain. Let's see. Starts off with the grainy malt, middle has some sweet lemon, and finishes with a little bit of hops and dryness. No after taste taste to speak of, smooth a...read more

Lots of medium thickness, white foam on this clear pouring beer. Not much retention or lacing to speak of. Aroma has malt and yeast with some fruity and earthy undertones, probably due to the Hallertau hops. Taste of malt and yeast, similar to the aroma. Finishes with the earthiness of the hops. Not bitter. Quite refreshing. Very low carbonation and small bodied allow this beer to be sessioned and enjoyed many times in a sitting. A really good summertime beer that quenches the thirst. Pours as clear as a beautiful summer day. A couple of fingers of white, somewhat thick foam. Okay retention with some lacing throughout. The foam settles, eventually, to a thin covering on the top of the beer. Aroma is similar to their Wild Rice beer but with wheat on the nose instead of big rice. There is some malt and very light citrus. The taste follows. Malt up front, followed by some citrus, while finishing with wheat. Medium carbonation and light mouth feel mesh together well to ma...read more

Let me start off with a little history of the beer. This beer was brewed about 4 - 5 years ago and stopped being brewed. Why? The price of the rice soared up to $10 per pound. Expensive stuff. So there was a hiatus and now they bring it back as their summer beer. I know they are using cheaper rice so I don't know how "wild" this beer will actually taste. Pours with four fingers of fluffy, white foam. The foam quickly disappeared leaving the usual white film on top of the beer. ...read more

Poured clear with three fingers of white, fluffy foam. Good retention with spider-web like lacing. If it tastes as good as it looks, I will be very happy. Aroma of big malt with helping hands from honey and earthy notes. Don't get really any hops here even though the bottle says it was hopped nicely with Saaz hops. Malt and more malt without really and supporting flavors. Beginning to think this particular one had some problems. I might have got a bad bottle as I am didn't get the aroma o...read more

Pours so clear and light in color it is almost translucent. Barely any foam. The foam is white in color and creates only a thin layer; enough to cover the top of the beer. No retention but actually has a little bit of lacing. The aroma has tart grapes, mild yeast, and some funk. Tart possibly emanating from the grapes and hint of cherries. Big grape flavor. Sourness. Almost enough to make you pucker a bit. A little bit of wheat in the finish. Dry at the end. Light carbonation and m...read more

Poured cloudy with a load of foam. It took me five minutes to fit the contents of this bottle into my pint glass. The white head is thick with tons of tightly packed bubbles like sardines. All this foam had great retention. Some lacing. On first aroma I get sweet fruitiness. Going back for more I find dried apricots, mild peppery phenol, and a bit of alcohol here and there. Complex but not huge. My best description of how this beer tastes: Yummy. The sweet fruitiness is up front. I can...read more

Poured with a single finger of off-white foam. Retention wasn't bad. Some light lacing throughout. Ton of little white floaties. Almost like snow fall. Sweet caramel aromas mix well with the grapefruit and grassy hops aromas. Good smelling beer. Oh, yeah. Finishes very clean. A little bitterness after a few seconds. Starts with a bit of that sweet, caramel malt transitioning into the grapefruit and grassy hops from the aroma and finishes with a bit of malt again. Medium carbonation an...read more

Poured with a finger of thcik, light brown foam into my snifter. Some retention and lacing. Chocolate and coffee join together to make a very nice aroma. Roasted malt adds to the complexity. Roasted malt with a bit of sweet up front. The middle has some fruit and mild yeast. Finishes with creamy chocolate and mocha coffee. Medium level of carbonation and good body. The transition through the middle of the taste is really interesting and sort of nice transition that I thought help make th...read more

Another Lagunitas beer with a big head that, in this case, was off-white and fluffy. Beer poured clear. Big malt with some mild grapefruit hops scent. The malt is sweet caramel. There are some mild fruity esters. Big sweet caramel malt up front on the taste. Finishing with grapefruit and some bitterness. A mildly carbonated beer with a medium beer. Complex. Would enjoy another but not right after this one. The sweetness of the beer seems to coat the palate making it difficult for me to...read more
