I have had Two Brothers beers' in the past and didn't seem to like them. Maybe I didn't know how to appreciate them. I am giving them another chance. Pours with almost no head - white is the color of what is there. The color is a tad clearer than a "normal" Hefeweizen. Carries the aroma of clove, slight banana ester, and even yeast. The flavor follows the aroma with a strong clove and yeast, with some mild banana. Tasty. Average body. Overall, has the true Hefeweizen character. Another...read more

This is a Coors product so you get what you expect from a macrobrew brewery: light in color, flavor and aroma. Pours with a three finger, white foam with little retention and some lacing. There is an above average amount of carbonation (normal for a macro brew). To the nose the wheat comes out distinctly. Some citrus also surfaces. Beer starts off sweet malt, light citrus, and finishes off with some honey. A crisp, clean beer that isn't complex but is definitely refreshing while sitting ou...read more

Didn't know what to expect before I opened the bottle. The beer looked light and the label mentions it was brewed with agave and poppy seed flavors. So off to the website I went without popping the cap; just staring at the bottle and wondering what refreshing goodness lay behind the sealed bottle top. The website has a special mini-site just for their line of odd notions beers. They give the visitor the ability to give feedback on each their three odd notions: spring, summer, and winter. My...read more

The bottle calls it "The Hefeweizen!" so the pour was as expected: golden, unfiltered, about a finger of white head, and, this one, had quit a bit of carbonation. Retention is average. Wheat taste isn't as strong on the palette as it was on the nose. The slight hint of lemon carries through (made with lemongrass - what is it?). Light body and mouth feel. High carbonation tickles the nose. The smell of wheat overwhelms the old nose. Maybe a hint of lemon. Krieky, this goes down way too ea...read more

Wow. Surprised by the color as the pink in the beer comes out very quickly. Held it up to the sunlight to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. Had a finger-and-a-half, pink hued head, with good retention, and slight lacing. Average amount of carbonation. Malty aroma, possibly a little beet scent gives the idea of some fruit. Very tough to pick up much on this one. Medium mouth feel. That finishes sweet but possibly a little dry. The taste doesn't seem to carry the beets (maybe that's...read more

Aroma: Spicy, anise/clove. First taste: The bottle label only said "wheat beer", but upon first taste....surprise, Hefe Weizen. Very rich, thick, and sweet with traditional "clovey" spice taste. Overall: My full disclosure is that I am not the biggest fan of the hefe weizen style. It's my prejudice against overally flavored brews, esp in a style that's typically intended for the summer months. But, this brew won me over with another surprise. After drinking a bottle, I logged into New Glarus's we...read more

Aroma: Citrusy. Initial taste: Very clean and refreshing. The lemon, citrus taste is very subtle, unlike some brewers tendency to go over the top on "extra" flavors. Overall: Here it is, the beginning of summer, and in the upper midwest we've got to savor our short time in the sun. So I find myself deep into the enjoyment of summer brews. Wich by the way, seem to be one of the largest categories, in terms of offerings from brewers. I loved this beer. It's crisp, dry, and the lemon-grass adds j...read more

Aroma: Mysterious sweet, maybe floral. Totally unique. Initial taste impression: The unique aroma dominates first taste. Smooth, rich, and deep taste. Overall: One of a kind drinking experience, and a very respectable beer. Like MH says in their description, "Not so Pale Ale", it's not a cliche, it's accurate for this crisp and refreshing brew. Hops are there in the background, but like all great beers, the ultimate goal is to balance the ingredents into a mix that\'s a greater sum than individu...read more

Two finger fluffy white head with little retention and some lacing - seems like my favorite mason jar has this effect on a lot of beers. Strong citrus (orange) aroma with slight wheat scents. The taste is definite citrus while the wheat flavor is stronger than in the scent. Dry endings. Sweet. Crisp, clean, and dry. After jogging this beer is refreshing and goes down easy. I could see where two, three or more could go down before you know it. Not my favorite wheat beer (Oberon) but I wou...read more

This is a seasonal beer in which the brewery always seems to have four or five on tap. Once the small batch is gone, so is the beer for that season. So a bi-monthly visit to the brewery should yield several different beers to try. This is a definite Hefeweizen beer. All the usual suspects are there: cloudy, unfiltered appearance due to the yeast, a flavor that is full of clove w/ a hint of spiciness and a slight hop finish. I would say the clove is a little over powering. The aroma has t...read more

This is what happens when you are in a hurry and send the wife in to purchase a growler of beer! You end up with a beer that you yourself wouldn't pick and, then, because you don't like it, the wife decides the taste test in the bar was misleading. There are three extra types of hops that are added to this beer to give it a slight hoppy finish. The aromatic rye and orange blossom honey give a definite fruity scent; seems like peaches(?). The beginning of the after taste has a similar flavo...read more

My first Irish Ale so I was surprised with the roasted malt flavor as I didn't expect it from a "red" beer. I guess I still have memories of Killians Red from college when I thought it was the best beer ever! :) Hint of caramel. Finishes a little dry. Advertised as a meat and potatoes beer, I definitely would have to agree....read more
