Dese, Dem & Dose

Hop Butcher For The World

American IPA - New England (NEIPA)

9.0 by scot have another Dese, Dem & Dose by Hop Butcher For The World

Pour from a can with date of 05/19/20. Purchased at Iron&Glass; Minooka. Pours clear, maybe a chill haze, but clearer than any other NEIPA I have had before (unless old - this is fresh). Inch of pure white foam covers. Good retention with thick, sheeting lacing. Aroma of sweet orange, very big. Grapefruit, pine and berries. Berries are not distinct but like a refreshing summer berry salad mix. Taste brings the berries to the forefront. Strong throughout the taste: start to end, lin...read more

XXIII Anniversary Ale

Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

American Strong Ale

9.8 by Matt have another XXIII Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co.

First off, I was able to get a bunch of this beer over the last two years, and I’m glad. It’s excellent. Second, great beer with a cigar (having a Rocky Patel Decade with it). Dark brown with lightening edges. Smell is straight up barrel with brown sugar and molasses notes underneath. Taste is sweet dark sugar and bourbon, bourbon, bourbon. More bourbon, please. Feel is big bold bodied and boozy. Did I say I need more bourbon? Definitely can tell this is a combination of a quad, a st...read more

Flash Sync

Phase Three Brewing

American IPA - Imperial New England (INEIPA)

9.2 by scot have another Flash Sync by Phase Three Brewing

Pours from a can with no date. Purchased from Iron&Glass; Minooka. Pours cloudy with an inch of thick, white foam. Great retention with the foam frothing as it recedes. Thick sticky lacing. Aroma of papaya, mango, pineapple, grapefruit and grass. Hints of sweet. Ripe. Taste follows the nose with lots of tropical fruit: mango, pineapple and grapefruit. Lingering bitterness. Creamy on the lips - medium body. Medium carbonation that hits hard on the back of the throat. Juicy, which...read more

Picking Wildflowers

Phase Three Brewing

American Imperial IPA

8.7 by scot have another Picking Wildflowers by Phase Three Brewing

Poured from a can without a date. No date on can. Pours clear with an inch of white, frothy foam. Good retention and sticky, thick lacing. Since I can see the beer effervescent. Aroma of green; grass to be precise. Up front and overpowering to begin. Thankfully this gives way to ripe fruit, earth and biscuit and honey from the malt. No pine. Taste is biscuit backbone that has grass, fruit, and honey. Light body and medium carbonation. Dry, yet juicy. Definitely the old fashioned bit...read more

Preserved in Three Dimensions

Hop Butcher For The World

American IPA - New England (NEIPA)

9.2 by scot have another Preserved in Three Dimensions by Hop Butcher For The World

From a can dated 05/11/2020. Purchased at Iron&Glass; Minooka. Pours cloudy (murky) with a finger of white foam. Frothing as it recedes, leaving a nice layer on top. Thick lacing throughout. Aroma of berry, sweet cedar, and fruit. Taste is very similar. Sweet cedar is more pronounced. Medium body, bordering on creamy. Some bitterness with cedar accents. I love Sabro hope. Give me more and this beer allows it to shine. Good balance between sweet, hop and bitterness. Enjoy!...read more

Zero Fucks Given (ZFG)

Hidden Springs Ale Works

American Pale Ale

7.0 by scot have another Zero Fucks Given (ZFG) by Hidden Springs Ale Works

From a can purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Pours cloudy not opaque. Some white foam but it leaves quickly and not much remains. Aroma has hints of pineapple and mango but then come the fresh lime and lemon. That profile just bugs me and isn't pleasant to the way I am wired. Taste follows. The lime/lemon begins to mingle better after some time but a fresh palate makes this rough. Medium body and carbonation. Dry, extremely so. Motueka is no where near my favorite hop and it once again...read more

From a can with date of 03/30/20. Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Pours cloudy with a huge white head. Good retention with thick lacing. Aroma is muted. Pineapple, mango, dank, and hints of grapefruit. Taste has a bit more going on but isn't bright. Pineapple, grapefruit, pine resin, and mango. Not sweet. Lingering bitterness that builds. Possible heat from alcohol as well. Medium body that tries to be creamy. Medium carbonation. Juicy up front before quickly drying. I really ha...read more

8.0 by scot have another Solidarity by Black Lung Brewing Company

From a can with date of 05/01/2020. Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Pours with cloudy but there is some light penetrating the liquid. Beautiful white foam covers that froths as it recedes, leaving spotty, thick lacing in its wake. Aroma is big up front. Sweet mango and strawberries. Very Sweet. Extremely sweet. Don't get the vanilla. Slightly dank. Taste is more of the same. Lots of sweet strawberry and mango throughout. Hints of bitterness, mango, strawberry and sweetness linger....read more

Kielbasa King

Hop Butcher For The World

7.1 by scot have another Kielbasa King by Hop Butcher For The World

Pour from a can with a date of 05/04/20. Purchased at Flight Beer Shoppe. Pours cloudy with an inch of white foam. Thick, sticky lacing start immediately as the foam sneaks quickly away. Aroma of green hops and berry. The can says white grape but I can't pick it up. The green hops are strong. Taste takes a wicked turn. The hop profile is much different here. Hard to describe. Maybe the white grape and dank green hops mingle. Not enticing. Medium body with medium carbonation. Dry. ...read more

Date on can of 04/21/2020. Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Pours hazy/cloudy but not NEIPA hazy. An inch of white foam covers. Adequate retention with sporadic lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, resin, dank, mango, and ripe fruit. Hints of alcohol, sporadically. Nose jumps from the glass: grapefruit and overripe mango. Taste is a neutral malt backbone. Mango, resin, grapefruit, orange and pine fill the sense. The finish brings a alcohol burn and hint of bitter bite (maybe the alcohol too)...read more

Date on 04/14/20. Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Pours cloudy with over an inch of white foam. Great retention with sticky, thick lacing. Aroma of intense citrus. Orange and tangerine jump out, with every attempt. Hints of sweet. Taste is more orange, tangerine, clementine and tangelo. Yes, every type of orange variation you can think of. Packaged 04/27/20. Purchased at Flight Bottle Shop. Pours cloudy with an inch of white foam. Good retention with spotty lacing. Aroma of dank, tropical fruits. Mango, pineapple and orange with muted notes. Medium body with a sense of creamy sweetness. Medium carbonation. Touch of late heat/bitterness. Good beer but not great.
