Phase Three Brewing

American IPA - Imperial New England (INEIPA)

8.7 by scot have another Color Scheme by Phase Three Brewing

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. No date on can but purchased the day it was released at the beer store. Pours cloudy with a single finger of white foam; nothing special. Average retention with some simple lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit, dank, a bit of herbal/grass. Not really sweet. Tropical fruits are mango and pineapple. Taste is a bit more adventurous, inviting, and exciting. Coconut, cedar, mango, pineapple, and sweet. No grassy notes. Finishes clean and smooth, only hints of b...read more

American IPA - New England (NEIPA)

7.2 by scot have another AAAlterrr Ego! by Tree House Brewing Company

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date on can of 07/17/20. Pours cloudy with a several inches of white foam. Foam froths as it becomes rocky, leaving sticky lacing behind. Aroma is straight forward citrus: orange and tangerine, primarily. Initially thought there was hints of grapefruit but couldn't find them later on. Sweet. Taste is citrus again. There is a bitter bite in the finish that could be due to a large amount of late hops. Medium body with medium carbonation. Not creamy or ...read more

Dulce et Decorum

Saint Errant Brewing

American Imperial Stout

8.5 by scot have another Dulce et Decorum by Saint Errant Brewing

From a can purchased at Iron & Glass Romeoville. No date on can but purchased in the last four months. A vigorous pour brings on nary any dark tan foam. No retention due to lack of said foam. In spite of the lack of much foam, there is some lacing, but not much to talk about. Aroma is straight up vanilla. Nothing else gets through here, especially on a cold pour. Taste is big on vanilla to start. Mid-taste the beer adds roast, chocolate, deep, dark malt flavor: almost smoke and molas...read more

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. No date on can, which is where I should have stopped. This beer is definitely past prime. I won't really rate it. My fault for purchasing a beer without a date. Nonetheless, it has been a long time since I purchased a Mikerphone beer. I hope to try this one and others, but, so many beers on the market, makes it hard to pick and choose. Enjoy!...read more

Purchased a Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date of 08/17/2020. Pours cloudy with over an inch of white foam into my new Hop Butcher glass. Good retention with light, wispy lacing. Aroma jumps up to meet the nose. Ripe, sweet tropical fruit of mango and papaya. Dank with orange. Finishes with a load of dank, sweet, and ripe mango and papayas. Lingers with some bitterness, possibly hop burn. Late grape. Light body but there is enough carbonation to hold it up. Juicy but dries between sips. The ...read more

Picked up from a TNBC teammate, Andy. Date on can of 07/22/20. Pours cloudy with an enormous white foam. Great retention. Froths. Thin but sticky spiderweb lacing. Aroma of tangerine and orange. Peach and mango are there but much more subdued. Touch of sweet. Taste doesn't bring all the same from the aroma. More residual bitterness than expected. Sweet tangerine and orange. Possibly some grapefruit and pine in the finish that lead to the perceived bitterness. Medium body with ampl...read more

Poured from a can that was purchased from Andy. Date on can: 07/24/20. Pours cloudy with a few inches of white foam. Great retention which is bolstered by a frothing top that leaves sticky lacing all around. Aroma of sweet peach and orange. The orange is the most prevalent of on the nose. Taste is sweet throughout, which lingers some. Orange and peach mostly Not much else. There is a residual bitterness that builds with each sip but never over the top. That bitterness carries some herb...read more

Poured from a vessel purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date on can of 08/04/2020. Pours cloudy. A finger of white foam covers. As it recedes, the foam gets a nice creaminess to it. Light lacing. Aroma of sweet, dank, and mango. The aroma is big but not complex. Taste is more of the same: sweet mango, orange and dank in the finish. There is almost zero perceived bitterness. It seems the sweetness fights it back. Later herbal. Medium plus body with light end of medium carbonation. Juic...read more

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date on can: 08-03-2020. Pours cloudy. A vigorous pour brings on a huge, white head. Rocky topping at it recedes, the foam leaves a nice spider web, sticky lacing behind. Aroma is different but fun: ripe tropical fruit, dank, sweet, and cannabis. The ripe tropical fruits remind me of mango and pineapple. Taste follows the nose closely. The finish brings a big bang of sweet, dank, and cannabis; all three linger, creating some perceived bitterness. Tropi...read more

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe from a can with date of 07/27/20. Pours cloudy/hazy with a huge billowing, white foam. Rocky top and frothy as it meanders back, slowly to the liquid. Semi-thick lacing that leaves beautiful rings around the glass. Aroma is fantastic: pineapple, mango, orange, and sweet. Papaya and light herbal come through late. Taste of sweet orange and mango. Herbal/green and lots of resin, especially late producing some bitterness and a burn in the back of the throat...read more

Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date on can: 07/26/20. Pours hazy with a huge white foam. The foam becomes rocky as it recedes, leaving wispy, very sporadic, lacing. Aroma is very resinous. Once you cut through that: grapefruit, mango, and hints of spice and sweetness. Taste of orange, mango, and papaya. Lot's of fruit. Late spice and earth that leaves some bitterness. Light body and light carbonation. The adjective "light" could be used all around here. Juicy. The aroma...read more
