  • Visited with Kaila as part of a brewery tour of the area. This was our first stop.

They don't serve food so I can only comment on the beer. As always, it was fantastic. I guess saying "as always" needs a bit of explanation: first time at the brewery but I have rated over 90 beers from the can and haven't rated countless others. I almost always like their beer! If I don't, it is because of a profile that I don't care, not that the beer was made poorly. I had a 10oz of Blue Moss, a 5oz of Cafe Bear, and a free taster of Mellotron.

The service was really good but acts of kindness made it great. Yes, two in one visit. I ordered Blue Moss and while sipping on that the waitress brought be over a taster of Mellotron. Not because I asked about it but because she thought I would like to try it based on my request to have something that isn't as easy to make it into the can. As I was leaving, I wondered over to the merchandise side of things. I wanted shirt, potentially some of the 10oz tasting glasses, and a canned beer or two. I found a shirt and a beer but asked about a couple others they didn't have in stock. As I was checking out I was "gifted" a free 4-pack because they were missing so many beers I wanted. Awesome!

Being the old Half Acre tasting room, I knew what I was getting into. It is small, even tight, especially the benches that are stationary. The stationary benches may be my only complaint. For a big person like me with a jacket on, tough to slide in. Same complaint I had when it was Half Acre.

Pricing is a bit better than expected.

Accessibility is a tough one. They are deep in the north side of Chicago that, from where I live, doesn't have easy access from an expressway. Once in the neighborhood, no problem.

I will be back, hopefully soon with my wife. Enjoy!
