  • Visited with Kaila as part of a brewery tour of the area. This was our second stop.

    Here for a beer before moving onto the next stop. Only wanted one. Since we just ate, I was looking for some lighter. They had microPixel, a 4.3% American Pale Ale made with all Mosaic. I was thinking something along the lines of Founders All Day. I was wrong. Very bitter and hard to really distinguish the Mosaic hops. Too bitter for such a small Pale Ale! Really out of balance. I wouldn't have the beer again. Doesn't mean the beer was bad, just didn't hit my expectation.

    Service: they have a small counter as you walk in to the right with at least 4 workers. They take your order, they fill your order, they give you your order, you go sit in the vast expanses of a double sided, albeit very different vibe, seating areas. That's the end of the end of the interaction. They were friendly.

    This was a huge space. Actually almost two separate spaces - which is a problem for me. When you come in, there are two directions you can go. The one is large, dry walled, has a television or two and setup as in mass seating. The other side, where the counter/bar is, is more single tables spaced out in the old, unfinished warehouse space. There were only 3 other tables filled between the spaces making the ambiance lacking.

    The beer prices were a bit better than expected.

    Accessibility is a tough one. They are deep in the north side of Chicago that, from where I live, doesn't have easy access from an expressway. Once in the neighborhood, not much of a problem but their signage out front is minimal. Be proud!
