Washington State University (WSU) plays a vital, dual role in the American hop industry: it is both a premier breeding powerhouse for new cultivars and the national guardian of hop health.

WSU houses the Clean Plant Center Northwest (CPCNW), which is the official home of the National Clean Plant Network’s hop program. This is arguably the most critical infrastructure in the U.S. hop industry.
