Hop: Galaxy

Hops Catalog

Description

Galaxy was bred by Hop Products Australia (which controls a huge amount of Australian hop production) at the Rostrevor Breeding Garden in Victoria in 1994. Galaxy was commercially released in 2009 (first appearing in 2011 in the United States). It is an offspring from a female known as J78 and a male derived from Perle.

The large amount of oils in the hop produce a huge passion fruit and citrus flavors.

A dual purpose hop that is so flavorful and aromatic that it doesn't make sense to use it early in the boil.

Did you know?
  • Dwarf variety hops grow shorter in height than traditional varieties but, importantly, produce the same yield. This combination makes harvest easier.
Explanations
  • Storage: is based on the percentage of alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20*F.
  • Oil composition percetages are based on the total percentage of oil in the hop. Example: 10 - 20% means that for the specific oil it is 10 - 20% of the overall oil make up.
