  • A: Dark, not sure if it is deep brown or just black. Soft small bubbly foam that's dark kahki in color.

S: Dark fruits followed by brown sugar and vanilla. After repeated investigative sniffs, I can pull out some bourbon. Some chocolate and maybe raisins, the flv notes go deep.

T: Sweet molasses is tempered by a quick dryness. A little of the booziness from the bourbon comes out. Mostly vanilla and sugar, but not overly sweet, when you consider the style.

O: I really like the taste, and it's different enough from other Imperial Stouts. It's like a bourbon infused dessert. Mostly I like the flavor and I think using a high end bourbon like Buffalo Trace helps.

  • Aroma: Hint of Bourbon over slight chocolate maltyness.
Taste: Tastes great! Very apparent bourbon flavor, with a brown sugar hint of molasses that hides alcohol and makes it very easy to drink. Slightest- pleasant burn on the way down. Only hint that this beer should be shared. Nice medium to heavy body, also limits how much you can drink.
Looks great. Dark with a 1/8" hint of brown on the edge of glass. Slightest lace on edge of glass. Looks to style.

I would definitely drink this again it was great.

  • Pours opaque with shy amount of mocha foam. The retention isn't there. Lacing is spotty but there is some nice legs.

Aroma is pure bourbon: vanilla and oak are perfect. Cocoa is the next scent to assault the nose. Some booziness, probably from bourbon.

Taste is full of vanilla, oak, and bourbon from the start. It is joined by a touch of black malt ashiness in the finish (possibly from the char of the barrel). Molasses joins the medley as well as cocoa.

Body is thick. Carbonation is on the light side, letting the natural body shine. Boozy and dry but a touch of lip stickiness from the sugars. Eventually has a residual burn in the middle of the chest.

Definitely a bit of sweetness chewing through the bourbon but balances. The bourbon, oak, and vanilla are the highlight of the beer and I don't mind it. Cold winter days invite the bourbon. Enjoy!
