Received the bottle 2-3 years ago in a trade. No date on bottle.
Pours opaque from the deep, rich brown color. The light penetrates the edges enabling the brown hues within. Two inches of thick, creamy tan foam covers. Great retention, eventually leaving a thin, creamy head. Lacing is sticky and thick, beginning immediately.
Aroma is nutty up front. Sweet brought on by brown sugar, molasses, and hints of dark fruits.
The taste is a mess. It is hard to describe but it makes me think this beer should have been drank fresh.
Light to medium body. High carbonation, possibly from age/contamination.
There is a roast, almost burnt molasses sugary finish that lingers. This beer is well past prime. I would like to have another to taste fresh. Based on this example I wouldn't have it again. Enjoy!
