Poured from a bottle picked up on release day at the brewery earlier in year.
Opaque beverage with minimal mocha foam with large bubbles. Retention is limited. No lacing.
Aroma of bourbon/whiskey is prevalent. Brown sugar is big with hints of oak and roast.
Taste is a mix of barrel stouts suspects: chocolate, brown sugar, bourbon, oak and vanilla. The base beer seems hidden.
Mouthfeel is big but towards the lighter end. The bourbon builds it up some. Carbonation is more than expected in the style.
There are some flaws in this beer but overall it is solid. The mouthfeel could be built on the beer rather than the bourbon and carbonation. I would like a bit more of head that started out but didn't stay. Bourbon is top notch and up front; exactly what I like in barrel aged stout. Enjoy!
