Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe on 2020-11-05. No date on can.
Pours opaque from the dark brown color of the beer. Mocha foam is large bubbled and quickly gone. No lacing.
Aroma is a treat. Spicy oak, brown sugar, bourbon, rye bourbon, with hints of vanilla. The bourbon barrel is definitely stronger than the vanilla. Roast and sweet chocolate.
Taste is complex and amazing outside of the middle/end (keep reading). Spice, oak, chocolate, and bourbon are splashed throughout the sense.
Char, ash, chocolate are in the finish. There is flavor that hits in the middle that is off putting: metallic, possibly oily. Just out of place. Very hard to describe.
Light end of big body. Medium carbonation. Very dry. Not boozy.
The aroma on this beer is up there with any beer in style: great depth. The taste is where this one falls down. There is an almost indescribable flavor that develops that is incredibly distracting. If it wasn't for this flaw, the beer would be world class. Enjoy!
