  • My first purchase of The Bruery as they are now distributing in Illinois. I have had heard good things about this beer and I was hoping it would live up to the hype.

Poured somewhat clear with lighter colors on the edges. Big, bubbly, brown foam that was a good couple of inches on top of the brew in my tulip glass. Some nice retention before becoming nothing more than a splotchy covering of the beer. Blotchy lacing.

Chocolate delight with roasted, toffee and dark fruit accents. Maybe a hint of alcohol on the nose. Nutty. The dark fruit would definitely come out more with some aging.

Taste is slightly sweet, creamy chocolate, pecan, toasty, and pleasant roasted flavors fill out a huge and complex brew. A touch of chocolate bitterness in the end and after taste. Yummy.

Big, complicated beer that has a fitting amount of carbonation and slight heat on the tongue and going down.

For a young beer that they suggest can be cellared for 10 years, this if mighty good drinking. Time will make this beer even more complex and interesting. This is a great beer for the season and one of the best winter seasonals I have had the chance to partake. I will be picking up another one or two for cellar. Enj0y!
