Let me start out with the fact that the can makes a reference to Blazing Saddles - one of those movies I couldn't do without on a deserted island. Harrumph. Harrumph.
Pours clear with a luscious, off white, thick, tightly packed bubble foam. Retention is awesome while the lacing is thick and quite sticky. Foam becomes frothy and thick as it recedes.
Aroma is a pleasant blast of hops right from the beginning. Citrus and grapefruit greet the nose like an old friend. Floral notes too. Sweet malt with a touch of bread/biscuit.
Taste is sweet with some citrus up front. The middle seems to bring out the bready malt with some spice. The finish has bitterness but not harsh while floral and citrus seem to highlight the end.
For a DIPA a little light in the mouth but who said that is wrong. Light carbonation while their is a hop oiliness.
Maybe a little more bitter in the finish than I would like but over all a pretty fine example. The lightness to the body makes it easy to drink, while the late punch of alcohol in the taste distracts some. Enjoy!
