Poured opaque with ruby colored edges. Foam was brown, an inch thick, and frothy/creamy. Retention was average.
Aroma is faintly that of a stout: roasted mainly, but some sweet, chocolate, and coffee can be had also. A metallic type of scent can be picked up by the sniffer too. There could be a hint of lactose but I may be reaching.
Taste is big on the roasted malt. It stays with you from sip to sip, becoming coffee bitter after a while, but the bitter isn't strong at all compared to the big roast. Chocolate adds a slight touch. Metallic taste hits the front teeth. Not pleasant.
Seems a bit thin at times (beginning of sip) while it still can give off a medium feel if not bigger feel. Carbonation is medium. Dries out the palate.
The metallic aroma and taste really put me off on this beer. Outside of that, the beer has a good base. Not too far off the beaten path of being a really good stout. Enjoy!
