Bottle is from batch 77 and served at cellar temperature: ~58 degrees.
Poured opaque into my snifter glass. A nice half-inch, deep tan foam covered the liquid below. Retention was medial while there was some sheeting, non-sticky lacing.
Aroma is cocoa and smoke most up front. Dark fruit (raisin), sweet malt, and some alcohol to round out the scents.
Taste is sweet molasses up front that is quickly met with a burst of peat smoke in the middle, that on certain sips, seemed to dominate. Dark fruit also come in the middle, maybe even a splash of tart cherry. Cocoa also has a small place.
Medium body with medium carbonation. Dries the palate while there is coating feeling to the mouth.
The smoke added a flavor that I am not a huge fan. A good solid beer that seems well put together. Enjoy!
