  • A: Deep brown with a lightb tint of red. Light brown, soft fluffy foam head.

S: Roasty malt that is encased chocolate, with faint vanilla in the background. The merge of the scents comes together in almost foodie aroma.

T: Initial reaction is thin-er that I would have expected. A fast merge of light toasted malt, really light molasses. Maybe a bit of chocolate and coffee, but like everything else about this brew, it is understanded. Light mouthfeel and adequate cabonation. There are some hops, but more aromatic than bittering.

O: Superb take on a stout. Very good use of vanilla, really complements this brew. A wide profile of flavors but all very muted, and well balanced.

  • Aroma- Roasty! Toasty, hint of vanilla.
Look- Dark brown, thinnest lace, just the slightest hint of a cling to glass.
Taste- Very smooth, clean, easily drinkable. Chocolatey, vanilla is subtle. Tastes great. Medium body.

  • Pours opaque with an inch of tan, solid foam. Retention is quite good with the foam frothy. Lacing is somewhat thick but not overly sticky.

After having some of Maine's other beers expected more from the aroma. Clean roasted malt was the main scents but was subdued itself. Coffee and chocolate are there too.

Taste is sweet up front and toasty. Roast, chocolate, and coffee all starts in the middle, ending with big roast and coffee that linger along with a mild bitterness.

Medium body or so with a nice carbonation. Body might be lighter than most expect out of a stout but do all stouts have to be huge?

Another solid offering out of Maine Brewing. There is enough in this beer to place well above average but I think the aroma is a bit on the low end. Very easy drinking stout. Enjoy!
