Azacca™ was bred in Washington by the American Dwarf Hop Association, renamed to Latitude 46, with parentage of Toyomidori (Northern Brewer Grandmother and USDA 64103 Grandfather) and ADHA 94/95 (Summit™ Grandmother and ADHA 99-25 Grandfather). It is named for the Haitian god of agriculture. Azacca™ is a great late and/or dry hop. The sustained profile for the aroma situates to that usage. Whirlpooling brings out the juicy flavor and sweet aroma.
Krush® was bred by Hop Breeding Company and was known as HBC 586. Per the HBC's goal, this hop produces high yields, good storage stability, and is resistant to disease and pests. Released to the public in 2024. The profile of Krush® makes it suitable for just about any style and plays well with other hops as well.
Most™ was bred by Charles Faram and released in 2020. Most is a sister to Jester™ and Olicana®. It's aromatics make it best suited for late additions and dry hopping. Grown in the Czech Republic, Most became the first Charles Faram grown outside the United Kingdom. It takes it name from the Czechian city Most, which means bridge.
Olicana® was bred by Charles Faram and has more vigor than its sister Jester™. Released in 2014, it was initially planted alongside Jester™ in 2009. Currently grown commercially by Townend Farm and Stocks Farm, Worcestershire, it was selected due to a higher tolerance to Powdery Mildew than Challenger.
Pacific Sunrise™ was released in 2000 by New Zealand HortSearch program. Pedigree is from Cluster, Fuggle, European and New Zealand male hops. Currently registered with New Zealand Hops Ltd. Pacific Sunrise has both clean bittering and aroma. The hop has not been used much commercially. May be experiencing a new push to introduce the hop. The high alpha acid content allows Pacific Sunrise to work well as an early boil addition but the aroma profile makes it perfect for late additions: boil, whirlpool and dry hopping.
Rakau™ was re-released in 2007 by the New Zealand Hop Breeding Program. Considered to have "the whole orchard" by the breeder. Orginally bred in the 70s it was not released until 1983. The myrcene oil content concentration leads to the aforementioned huge orchard profile while low cohumulone make it less bitter. Lineage of Smooth Cone.
Strata™, developed by Indie Hops Flavor Project in 2009, was initially called X-331. Parentage of Perle, open pollinated at the Oregon State experimental hop yard. Strata™ is impressive due to disease resistance, vigorous growth and complex aroma layers. Strata™ was released after seven years of testing and evaluation, initially released to a few breweries for further testing. Sometimes described as "passion fruit meets pot", it brings a lot of tropical layers to a dank, herbal notes of cannabis.
