Purchased at Flight Bottle Shoppe. Date on can: 11/23/19.
Pours opaque with nary any foam. The ring that is there is dark tan and a ring around glass. Sporadic lacing.
Aroma is really sweet: lactose, candy, and brown sugar. Graham crackers and vanilla wafer add complexity and more sweetness. Vanilla and sweetness are huge. Not much, if any, bourbon or affiliated scents.
Taste ebbs and flows for me between good and too much. Chocolate, roast, vanilla, brown sugar. Late bourbon heat and a huge amount of residual sweetness. The residual also carries soy sauce which could be the rough edges around the brown sugar flavor in the middle that carries through to the end.
Big body. Light carbonation. Almost cloying sweetness in the finish.
A beer needs foam. I don't care what is put in it. The aroma is really fantastic but the taste is a sweet mess that allows that to linger. Not enough bourbon or oak for me. A few touch ups to this beer and it would be fantastic. I might have it again but it would have to be fresh. Enjoy!
